I understand the theory. But it is unrealistic to think that we can reasonably fix the problem by arming more people with concealed weapons. There just aren't enough people interested in packing around a lethal weapon 24/7 to make a dent. And at some point, more fully saturating society with handguns might lead to more shootings, accidents, etc.

The fact that we have had so few mass shooting thwarted my concealed carry permit holders illustrates that this is a pipe dream.

The fact of the matter is that if you have unfettered access to lethal weapons, these shootings are going to happen. That is the simple and stark reality.

I don't think it will fix the problem, but taking away the weapons of the 99.99999% of the law abiding gun owners is not the answer either. Its a no win situation.

In the long run, America just needs to decide what it values most: safety/lack of gun violence or the right to bear arms. Right now it seems like the right to bear arms is the consensus, but I could certainly see that changing in a generation or two.
