Wonder if they bought the insurance.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

A lot of guys with concealed weapons permits know how to use their guns. Think of all the ex military guys around.

It won't make a dent in schools or movie theaters, but it obviously made a difference at Trolley Square.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I am guessing yes... that way they wouldn't be suspected to be terrorists.

But let's at least have an honest discussion.
Yes, it is all pretty simple for the anti-gun folks: just get the second amendment repealed. That would solve this increase of shootings and murders... wait, gun violence has been on a declined since the '90's?

I am sure that had to do with the assault weapon ban, right?

I agree with you on this. However, people (at least in California) with a concealed carry permit are usually well trained on how to use the weapon and have to re-qualify with the weapon every year, same as law enforcement. So there is some validity to having more people carry concealed. The problem with carrying is that if by chance you accidentally display your weapon, or someone see's it and reports you, it is a crime. The other issue I see is that regular people (non-leo) who take tactical training and actually learn how to use their weapons effectively are labeled "gun nuts" by most. What constitutes a "gun nut" anyways? Owning multiple firearms? Dressing in camo or tactical gear, being a member of the NRA?

I say we rehash the "gun free zones" argument again. It's been a few weeks, at least.

I understand the theory. But it is unrealistic to think that we can reasonably fix the problem by arming more people with concealed weapons. There just aren't enough people interested in packing around a lethal weapon 24/7 to make a dent. And at some point, more fully saturating society with handguns might lead to more shootings, accidents, etc.

The fact that we have had so few mass shooting thwarted by concealed carry permit holders illustrates that this is a pipe dream.

The fact of the matter is that if you have unfettered access to lethal weapons, these shootings are going to happen. That is the simple and stark reality.

My wife works for the Regional Center here and they shut down yesterday after the shootings as a precaution and sent all non-essential employees home. The CA Department of Developments Services (the agency in charge of all the regional centers) made the call to do so because there was a report that someone had called in a threat to the San Diego regional center as well. The local news reported on this and some of the comments left by Facebook trolls are just plain stupid. From people calling it an over reaction to shut down, to an excuse to be able to get their Christmas shopping done. Never mind the fact that many of the workers here have friends and colleagues who work at the Inland Regional Center. Makes me sick.
