Lol. You think Biden is having trouble getting things done? Bernie would have been a disaster. He has never been able to accomplish anything."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I think he wouldn't have been such a bitch about reversing Trump's abysmal, embarrassing refugee numbers. I'm talking about things Biden could do with a wave of a pen. Good things. Trump had no compunction about doing reprehensible things at a moment's notice. Biden won't reverse those things why, again? Scared to piss off the KKK? Aight...Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

lol. You still think Democrats are good at setting their own agenda and following through? They're still jumping at Trump's shadow. I hate to say it, but I'm really thinking it would have been a lot better had Bernie beaten Trump instead of Biden. Biden's done a couple of nice things but on some of the issues that matter to me he's been absolutely positively incompetent x10000.

He is anti-war, anti-big tech, and anti- two-party system. So maybe he would have done something about these by now.
On immigration, Caption Commando's favorite subject, he would have kept building Drumpf's wall (but maybe actually gotten Mexico to pay for it). Bernie is a lot smarter that Grandpa Joe and realizes that we can't have an open border because he doesn't have enough free stuff for everyone.

Quite a bit. How much time do you have? (More importantly, how much time do I have?) Let me just go ahead and reiterate the thing I posted that sat there for about three days before you posted your question: he would have gotten rid of Trump's refugee cap, which is the lowest the U.S. has ever had it. There is no excuse-- that's the number of refugees a white supremacist regime would set. And Biden's keeping it.Originally posted by UVACoug View Post

There goes your superb reading comprehension again. I love that you link articles for the literate among us to read and then marvel about how bad your reading is, because the article doesn't support your arguments.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

Remember that time when you posted a chart about refugee admissions and then made an argument about asylum applicants using that chart because you didn't think there was a difference?

OMG, so when Bernie says we would get overrun by freeloaders if we opened our borders he really doesn't mean that? I take it he wouldn't be like dumbass Joe Biden who now finally admits that there is a serious crisis at the border (but will be working hard on it right after he is done playing golf). Now if he would just take responsibility and admit he created it with his EOs. Oh wait... there is still no crisis at the border. Grandpa Joe just forgot what he was saying again.Originally posted by Commando View Post

So for my other arguments those are easily verified by a simple search engine search... I understand the internet is hard for some people so here's a link: https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-35364868 Anti-war, anti-big tech, and anti- two party. Free college and universal healthcare. You said that Bernie would continue to build trump's white power wall, which is not supported by your (super recent, 2-year-old)article. Do I need to link that for you, or can you manage to look up like 2 posts? "Admits there's a serious crisis at the border" that's funny. I mean there is an uptick because of seasonal migration and also the tall task of untangling Trump's clusterfuck, but the numbers now don't even approach Trump's 2019 pre-covid numbers. Yet I didn't see Ted Cruz and Lyndsay Graham in deer hunter cosplay fishing for photo ops on a flatbottom on the Rio Grande then, did I? Notice it's mainly Trump-loyal CBP + the GQP hall of fame going full court press on tv to get that narrative out to box themselves out some Conservative Space (after the 1/6 debacle) for midterms in '22.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

I'm not sure what you're arguing at this point, and I'm not sure you know either-- you are setting up little Joe Biden strawmen here and there to punch at, but point out to me here where I was out here defending Biden. On the contrary, I posited that maybe Bernie might have done a better job rolling back these insane Trump policies. Shoot-- anybody might have; doesn't mean I'm here to fight you about Bernie Sanders, either. IDGAF what your pro-Trump positions lead you to say about whatever is going on in my world.
That you characterize immigrants as freeloaders is pretty humorous, too. And as an aging member of the workforce yourself-- you ought to be advocating for an influx of workers willing to take the place of the dwindling American workforce who compete for lower-tier jobs. They've been paying into your social security without taking a penny back out for decades. I think I can spot the freeloader here...Last edited by Commando; 04-19-2021, 04:07 PM."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! Sorry. I should have finished the thread before posting. Do you think he would have gotten rid of the cap altogether? And do you think that would be good policy? I'd sincerely like to know your opinion on this, since you know a lot more about the issue than I do. Seems kind of insane to just let everyone in, but maybe there aren't as many people coming as the news reports.Originally posted by Commando View Post

How do we pay to support all these people? Bernie can't unilaterally appropriate more money for it. I'm sure he could shift some money around, but where does it come from?

Refugees, not to be confused with asylum seekers (*cough cough, Ted) are people that have fled their countries and are abroad in refugee camps and vetted by the UN, then by the U.S. Department of State before they are given refugee status and then are brought to the U.S. (such as Syrian or Somalian war refugees) and are usually around 100,000+ a year.Originally posted by UVACoug View Post

They are distributed by the U.N. among the countries willing to take them-- (the U.S. has historically taken a good percentage until Trump decided that foreigners were vermin.) They are vetted six ways from Sunday before they are brought in, at which point they are settled by various non-profit organizations. For example, here in Phoenix there is the Somali Association of Arizona, which provides services to refugees, including English classes, cultural integration, employment placement, etc. In fact, the LDS Church provides resources to organizations like this, too. There really isn't a government resettlement program in place that micromanages anything-- it's done mostly through non-profits. The U.S. government spends a pittance on refugees compared to what it throws at, say, ICE detention and removal, private prisons, or the useless monolith to white nationalism on the border.
So no- we don't really 'pay to support all these people.' They tend to work and support us."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

Mitch McConell's comments yesterday I think can be reasonably interpreted to mean it's the Republican position now to never again allow a vote to confirm a democrat president's Supreme Court nominees when they can prevent it. Sure, that won't bolster the dems' idea of stacking the court when they get the chance.

All the Democrat bitchin’ about how the three scotus judges appointed by trump were going to ruin America was just a bunch of hot air. Our republic is still in great shape.
