And let's not forget all those classified documents found in the scattered around in Grandpa Joe's garage...

This was the correct decision and really quite important for stability going forward given these insane times and it is correct independent of what the relative risks of a Trump or Biden presidency are. The fact that so few who worry about Trump can recognize that is really something and speaks to how little most really care about the rule of law. By any means necessary I suppose.
I'm still quite curious. It doesn't need to discredit his comment. But, I'm interested in his perspective. It's a fair question.

Oh, that’s easy. Trump’s behavior is FAR more egregious. But Trump would also be far more likely to try to prosecute Biden for less significant (or fabricated) “offenses.”

Somehow democrats have forgotten that sometimes the other party wins.

Thanks for your response. You can't live in Utah and lack awareness of Republican political victories.

That sounds amazing. I haven't done any fly fishing in ages. I used to tie my own flies and I own a few rods.

I went up the lake yesterday and caught 10 salmon and 50 cuts and rainbows. It was a glorious day.

The decision is not terrible and there are some good things about the decision.

It absolutely is being misrepresented by Democrats right now as a blank check to do whatever the President wants. The dissent was absurd.

I do think there are some legitimate criticisms that can be made about the majority's limitations on what evidence can be considered with regard to determining if something is an official act or not.

              • In the theme of posting about fishing in the SCOTUS thread, I had yesterday off and decided to fish the Deschutes right outside of town in the early evening. It was upside down day, with all the action on dry flies and nothing with a nymph. Caught two small rainbows, and had a lot of other nibbles. Wasn't a bad way to end the day.

                        Not on my boat.

Trolling flashers and squids with downriggers. Same thing you use for salmon in Alaska, just smaller.

I usually just tied red yarn on hooks for salmon running in Alaska... but I'm fishing the shores of the rivers and not in a boat. Salmon spawning have only one thing on their minds running up the river and will strike at anything that hits their nose. And then egg patterns for fishing trout following the salmon going up the rivers. Of course, I don't think they let you fish the Kokanee when they are spawning in Utah.

Yeah, these guys are fishing with a lot of hardware...

                          • so do people who support the make abortion up to the states support laws like texas where nurses can violate HIPPA and report people to make a quck 10k?

That financial incentive was singled out by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor in her dissent late Wednesday after the Supreme Court declined to block the controversial law. In effect, Texas lawmakers have "deputized the state's citizens as bounty hunters, offering them cash prizes for civilly prosecuting their neighbors' medical procedures," she wrote

Someone on the medical staff broke HIPAA for the $10,000.

Biden is likely to endorse establishing term limits for justices and an enforceable code of ethics, in an announcement that represents a remarkable shift for a president who had long resisted calls to overhaul the high court.

He is also expected to push for a constitutional amendment limiting immunity for presidents and certain other officeholders, in a response to the court’s July 1 ruling that presidents are shielded from prosecution for “official acts” during their time in office, in a case brought by former President Donald Trump.
Cool... now all he has to do is get 2/3rds vote in both houses and 3/4ths of the states to agree to ratify. While he is at it add term limits for both houses (and see it get shot in a bipartisan fashion).
