My Ukrainian tutoree is understandably very upset and frustrated, especially since her family still lives between Crimea and Kiev. Last night she texted me, "Unfortunately, nobody is going to help us. We are too small to fight with Putin alone, but the rest of the world is just watching and not doing anything. Pray for Ukraine, please." It would be a stupid and futile gesture, but I'd love it if, worldwide, big crowds demonstrated (nonviolently!) in front of every Russian embassy and consulate. I'd be happy to head over to SF to rage impotently in front of the consulate there.

As for the post above, I hope Putin burns in hell, along with everyone else who shares his "Christian values." Lauren Witzke probably fantasizes about a helmeted Jesus driving a T-14 down the road toward Kiev.

These "Christians" are the reason we got Donald Trump. They don't care about the Constitution or America or anything the Jesus said. They just want to have their way. Some of that is racism and some of it is wanting Christianity (or their version of it) to be the dominate religion in America. They feel it slipping away from them and they can't stand the fact they will be in the minority soon, if they aren't already.

My BiL served his mission in Donetsk. Just an alternate view but he said the "Russians" in that area wanted nothing to do with Ukraine and would be happy to be back with Russia. That doesn't sound too different from what I've heard and also it sounds like Putin is using the Russian sympathizers in that area to justify the invastion...unfortunately it's not just the Donetsk area but the entire country that is going to fall. Sounds like we are just days or maybe hours from having Kiev fall.

Also agree that wanting air support from the west is naive. This isn't Iraq or Afghanistan we would be dealing with. This is the one country that has more nuclear weapons than we do and the power and will to use them. It would get very ugly if we sent in any Americans. If the Ukraine was part of NATO it would be a different story, but of course Putin won't dare touch a NATO member country.

Isn't the fact that Ukraine was pushing hard to be in the NATO club really the reason Putin invaded? The US and Ukraine should just make a deal... promise Putin that Ukraine, Georgia, and the other border countries won't be part of NATO if he will leave them alone. And Joe should make Germany buy all its oil from West Texas instead of Russia...
