  • Apparently this is a big thing. I'm not sure.

Seems to me most people support their troops while engaged in active combat.

    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

        • I find Putin's response to the successful counteroffensive in the Kharkiv area interesting. So far there has been no real effort to deploy more of his professional army to the theater. The movement that Western sources are picking up on is an effort to raise more reserve type units from local areas-micromobilization. This is peppered with mercenaries and inmates. It seems to me that Lord Putin is really afraid of attempts to make this war a priority to the Russian people. The Ukrainians are all in on this, and significantly materially supported in both weapons and intelligence from their western allis/enemies of the gawdless commies, and Russia is trying to fight it with both hands tied behind their backs. Like most I have been surprised by the Ukrainian resolve and success, but Putin isn't really committing the forces he would need to accomplish his objectives of conquering the Donbass and annex it into Russia. Without a more resolute commitment can Russia last another year? I do think that Putin could increase Russian commitment if Ukraine goes after Crimea-I think the average Russian believes in fighting to keep Crimea. But right now Putin's lack of escalating the war the effort inside Russia indicates he doesn't believe the people will stay behind it.

Now we need to find a way to detangle ourselves from China. Stop doing business with autocrats and authoritarian regimes. You would think that this would be a libertarian principle, but libertarianism seems to have completely lost its way.

If we could recruit a libertarian to post here we could probably ask them...

By which time Putin will have had his own accident out of a highrise window.

"Libertarian" was too squishy of a label even before the Mises Caucus took over the national party. It was a big tent term. But now Rothbardians have aggressively taken over the term and demanded they are it. What most people who described themselves as libertarian 5 years ago believe is different in striking ways. Although even the Cato libertarians would probably disappoint you on many of their foreign policy positions, there is no water being held for authoritarians or authoritarian regimes. They readily know who the bad guys are.

Ted is a paleoconservative, pretending to be libertarian. But you dont want to recruit a modern Libertarian Party libertarian here. They'd make Ted look like Mike Pence.

Bad for Europe. Great for American LNG and natural gas producers (selfishly).

And one of Germany's last nuclear power plants developed a leak and now needs to be shut down just in time for winter... Oh man, that sucks. I guess they better get some more solar panels.

Big anti-war protests today in Russia due to the mobilization order. It is all a bluff. No way do they have the capacity to train and adequately arm these conscripts. And given that they have massive morale issues with professional soldiers, wait until the conscripts show up. Putin is in serious trouble.

Only an idiot or a coward would back down to yet another Putin threat.
