You can tell from the high angle that it's actually a mortar. Looks like the range is just over 2.5 miles. Our Pallains (the self-propelled howitzers) go just over 18 miles, and drop a bigger 155 round.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostComment

I was assuming howitzer based on it not being muzzle-loading. I'm glad to learn something today. 18 miles is just nuts. You could shell the town of Bishopville in the next county over from my house and still have 6 miles to spare, as the crow flies. That really puts these ranges into perspective.
