Do parents let their babies cry themselves to sleep anymore? My guess in our modern society, that is probably a no, no.
Wait, you are pro-gay marriage now? This is huge news! Today is like the day that Viking converted to the true and living basketball team (Utes).

Who do we have left to convert? LA, Jacob, UVA. Anyone else I'm missing?

      That's deep, man.
Not everybody is passionate or moved by the change, but some accept it dispassionately for what it is. Intellectually, I am for expansion of all liberties to withstand government intrusion. But it's not as if I am emotionally overcome at the thought of it. The change from civil partnership to marriage is technical and subtle. How can a subtle change be one that is profound?

Do you ever wonder about getting brain damage from having to think so deeply on every issue?

That was a classic reply. Not the standard you are an idiot, but you aren't a deep enough thinker.
No, you are supposed to be emotionally overcome at this most important liberty to be proclaimed. This change is more important and profound than the 14th Amendment, the Bill of Rights, the Magna Carta, or even life itself. Afterward, you are supposed to commit hare-kari for being so slow to acknowledge this as the only liberty that matters.

Your envergadura, from the sounds of it. However, it that was a serious question, let me know and I'll provide you with a serious answer. Sometimes I (and others, i've noticed) get your serious questions and your sarcastic ones confused.

I guess I am. I would call I don't give a shit, let's move on, but apparently that wouldn't be good enough for folks like JL. I need to work on accepting it with more feeling and deep thought.

No, you must come out to be gay and marry your 24 year old gay partner. That would satisfy the heathens.

I appreciate those of you who have discernment.

Actually it is a rhetorical serious question. I remember the head of HR coming out and doing a training session on what can and can't be done in the work place. In essence who is protected. It lasted about an hour.

I raised my hand and said, you could give that seminar in 10 minutes. Just say everyone could be considered protected unless you are basically a white male between 21 and 55 and Christian. She basically agreed.

Over forty is semi-protected as age discrimination. You can have a rebuttable presumption if replace somebody over forty with somebody under forty, regardless of race.

In light of your answer, that certainly sheds some light on the source of the confusion regarding the seriousness of your questions.

When the girls in the office raise their eyebrows over something I say I tell them, "well this will be an interesting battle of the protected classes".

71 doesn't take himself serious at all. He is serious about his golf game.

Apparently it's been a while since you golfed with him.

Did I use the word "rhetorical" incorrectly? Remember I am not a deep thinker.
