Now I'd like to go on record saying that I like and respect plenty of lawyers (SeattleUte, Nikuman, Levin).

But lawyers are generally not in the business of seeking truth. They advocate for their side and seek favorable opinions for their clients. It is not about truth. It's not even really about genuine reasoning. Very frequently, attempts are made to persuade on emotional basis rather than on genuine fact. It is so far from science that it isn't funny. It is an anti-science.
Well, at least we agree on this!

This thread is about a legal ruling that declared all traditional marriage laws unconstitutional. The reasoning in that case is patently absurd and the ruling will be overturned.

We've talked about gay marriage and the arguments in favor and against enough in the past. I don't have a problem with gays doing whatever gays want to do.

If the judge had struck down a law saying that Jews couldn't be married, would that be absurd reasoning?

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Lol. I guess it depends on what his reasoning was. The reasoning can be good or poor regardless of whether the result is proper. But I fail to see what Jews have to do with gays. I'm sure you do, but your posts indicate that you don't know what the terms reasoning and argument mean.

I'm chuckling because you just made Sooner's point and you don't even know it.

Seems like a lot of them want to get married. Welcome aboard the pro-gay marriage train.

                      That unintentionally humorous imho.
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Jacob is killing it in this thread.

Most people who are against gay marriage use the justification of abstract religion. Jacob has opted instead to use the justification of abstract jurisprudence. Not sure which is more ridiculous but I'm leaning toward abstract jurisprudence.

Amazing to me that people with a straight face can think, "Yeah these 20-year olds who have known each other for 3 months can get married just because they are straight. But you guys who have been together for 30 years have no right to get married because you are gay."

                        That's not "patently absurd?"

Doctor smack is a losing proposition. They always come back with, "Yeah, well how many lives did you save last week?" Checkmate!
