It can be, but it is also quite strange. IT is a renaissance of junior high/middle school, where a pecking order is created, and the rules for attack are re-created just like junior high. The anonymity creates a cloak to behave in a packlike manner, to savage the awkward or non-conformists. It would be interesting to conduct sociological studies of anonymous message board behavior."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

However, you shouldn't feel bad at all having to opportunity to zing back. You don't have to be nasty and question their ability to think deeply, but you can zing them and not feel quilty.
I have no conscience, just senses of loyalty."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

It can go the other way. If I wasn't anonymous on here and they knew who I really am, these people wouldn't dare attack my intellect.Originally posted by Topper View PostThe anonymity creates a cloak to behave in a packlike manner, to savage the awkward or non-conformists. As a side note I am so happy to have you here. I have been anxiously awaiting your arrival for quite a while.

I didn't create this place. Lebowski and his henchman struck while I was in self-imposed exile!Originally posted by Topper View PostYou're always good for a zinger. Think back to Cougartalk.
But the reason you created this place, was because you thought MW was going bezerk at people. Now, instead of one guy , we've got a dominion of people attacking people.

Poor Topper. Here, maybe this will help:Originally posted by Topper View PostWhy do posters tend to treat each other like shit all the time? Is it just a function of becoming grouchy in our old ages?
There seems to be a hierarchy of personalities, with some who have achieved doctoral status looking down upon those who don't think or articulate themselves in a particular manner. This place has become much nastier than I remember earlier message board days. Much of the humor has evaporated.

This response is even dumber. I couldn't care less what you think about it. I just found it funny what triggered BYU71's change of heart.Originally posted by Topper View PostNo, you are supposed to be emotionally overcome at this most important liberty to be proclaimed. This change is more important and profound than the 14th Amendment, the Bill of Rights, the Magna Carta, or even life itself. Afterward, you are supposed to commit hare-kari for being so slow to acknowledge this as the only liberty that matters."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Meh. I didn't expect you to get it. I am sure Topper will though.Originally posted by byu71 View PostYou are the man JL. To be self deprecating like that is actually pretty cool. For the record though I do not think you are an bunghole.

Now I am hurt. Accused of not using deep thought hurt enough, now it seems by inuendo I am accused of a dumb post. Ouch. Brilliant move on JL's part. He is trying to split my efforts. While handing me the "deep thought" accusation on a silver tray, do I split time on that with the fact I made a dumb comment. Or do I stick with the "deep thought" theme and just let the dumb post go?Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThis response is even dumber. I couldn't care less what you think about it. Deep thought will be my choice. I get a smile and start laughing everytime I think of that one. I think even my friends out at Oakridge are going to tire of hearing discuss my lack of deep thought. Crap, I missed that putt. I don't think I gave it enough "deep thought".
