First there was Brexit... Now there is Texit:

Texas Republicans endorse legislation to allow vote on secession from US
The Texas Republican party has endorsed legislation that would allow state residents to vote whether to secede from the United States.
    [...]
“Texit,” named after the British referendum to leave the European Union, refers to the process of Texas exiting the United States to become an independent, self-governing nation.
State’s part chairman, Allen West, is latest Republican to come out in support of declaring Texas an independent nation

That's fine... we would just kick their *sses again and take their oil. In return, we would let them keep Alta Califonira.

It is now time to open Texas 100%:’ Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reverses statewide pandemic orders

Exactly eight months after issuing a mask mandate in most Texas counties, Gov. Greg Abbott reversed that order on Tuesday, along with most other statewide COVID-19 orders he signed last year.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott made the statewide announcement Tuesday while speaking to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.

“Too many Texans have been sidelined from employment opportunities,” Abbott said. “Too many small business owners have struggled to pay their bills. This must end. It is now time to open Texas 100%.”

He's definitely not trying to change the subject away from how poorly he handled everything related to the recent cold front.

No... If he was trying to do that he would have some women come forward claiming that he sexually harassed them.

I will never understand the general GOP aversion to masks. I understand the desire to open up again. That's somewhat defensible given the drop in Texas cases (still shouldn't be 100% yet though). But c'mon, masks?!? Such a pointless political statement.

Make it a compromise. Wear the masks and we'll keep rolling out openings.

I'd be worried that my Dallas area stake would cancel Zoom church and go back to holding only in-person meetings as soon as next week. But then the pipes froze and burst in almost all the chapels so Zoom church will probably remain until buildings can be repaired. But I wouldn't put it past my stake leadership to cramming all 10 wards into the one undamaged building, just because.

Our ward is back to meeting every week in person for the two-hour block. They are still broadcasting Sacrament Meeting (excluding the ordinance), Elder's Quorum, Relief Society, and Gospel Doctrine over Zoom for those who don't feel comfortable attending in person yet.

Same, we started 3 weeks ago. We still had 1/2 the RS attend online, so I am glad we are still providing the zoom for them.
