I have been laughing my head off all morning at this video clip (hat tip to surfah). It is almost worth Trump winning.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

No major point here. I'm just saying Utah went overwhelmingly for the republican (who you and I find loatheful);.that has pretty much always happened. I'm just ribbing you for your comments about how Utah was different this time around: a lot of sound and fury, but it ultimately status quo.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI keep scratching my head over this post. What exactly is your point? Whether they were voting for a fellow mormon or not, a significant number rallied around a non-Trump candidate. The fact that he is a squeaky-clean mormon does not invalidate that point one iota. Good for Utah for producing a palatable alternative. Bottom line is that Trump won Utah with only 46% of the vote. 74% of registered voters either stayed away from the polls, or voted for someone else.
Meanwhile, you are high-fiving yourself because the DC voters went 94% for HRC. Your implication is that unlike those hypocritical mormons, these DC folks have character! But of course you and I both know that a 94% outcome in DC is probably even more of a blindly partisan outcome than anything Utah has ever done. The republican party could have run a resurrected Abe Lincoln for president and DC would have still voted party line. Don't kid yourself.
And I was joking about patting myself on the back for dc's vote. Of course they voted democrat and of course they voted for statehood. No need to go all creekster on me.

Yeah, but Hillary should go in to the Supreme Court and demand that one vote count as one vote.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostI would say the Electoral College did pretty much exactly what it was designed to do by the Founding Fathers.
You can't run up the score in the urban areas -- a national campaign that includes rural folks is exactly what was intended to be required.

I don't think that was their main concern. It was a safety mechanism so the elites could veto bad popular vote outcomes. Maybe it's not working like they intended, or totally outlived its necessity or use.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostI would say the Electoral College did pretty much exactly what it was designed to do by the Founding Fathers.

So this one isn't a false dichotomy? Or is it still the hidden racists that propelled Trump?Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostGet confident, stupid
