The angst posted on facebook today about this turn of events is insane; at least in my neck of the woods. For whatever reason, this particular one has been shared the most:

    <http://johnpavlovitz.com/2016/11/09/heres-why-we-grieve-today/>

Every horrible thing Donald Trump ever said about women or Muslims or people of color has now been validated.
Every profanity-laced press conference and every call to bully protestors and every ignorant diatribe has been endorsed.
Every piece of anti-LGBTQ legislation Mike Pence has championed has been signed-off on.

Half of our country has declared these things acceptable, noble, American.

This is the disconnect and the source of our grief today. It isn’t a political defeat that we’re lamenting, it’s a defeat for Humanity.
Jeezus... hyperbole much? Get a grip. Almost makes me feel regret for casting my anti-Trump vote for HRC, who has been much more gracious than many of her supporters.
You're actually pretty funny when you aren't being a complete a-hole....so basically like 5% of the time. --Art Vandelay
Almost everything you post is snarky, smug, condescending, or just downright mean-spirited. --Jeffrey Lebowski

Anyone can make war, but only the most courageous can make peace. --President Donald J. Trump
You furnish the pictures, and I’ll furnish the war. --William Randolph Hearst

Serious? Where does he mention gender identity at all? He criticized the candidates credentials but said nothing about gender identity.

If you were just trolling, consider me caught and well done. If you are serious then I'm surprised because I never pegged you for that big of a fool.

      • We had a gig in SF today and I got caught in traffic caused by a protest on Geary and another on Market. Almost made me late. ANd they are portesting what exactly? that they lost, I guess. Well Boo-freakin-hoo.

ANd Talk radio around here is HILARIOUS. one of the afternoon guys was talking about how, even though it would be very difficult to do while remaining civil, he would just have to be nice to people who voted for Trump so he can explain to them the depth of their error becasue, really, only people who are complete fools would have done this. His co-host chimed in to say there is no reason to be nice, that they are not worth the effort. Besides, they will see their error whne the country falls apart. To ehich the first guy said something like That will be too late; we will be in Nazi Germany all over again.

I echo the sentiment already stated here; the Dumpf victory is almost worth watching and listening to the Democratic hysteria in response. Highly amusing.
        PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I believe there is always a purpose behind these protests and that these well-informed and well-intentioned protesters' plan is to exert enough pressure so that Trump steps down and Mike Pence takes over. They seem like the type of people that would really like Pence.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

So crazy. And everyone was nervous about how Trumpsters were going to react.

And watching Van Jones react on CNN is a bit disturbing, shouting down the Trump analysts. The left is taking this hard. They'd do well to follow Obama's example.

            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Apparently Van Jones is in the anger stage of grief and loss.

When are the democrats going to take a moment and do some introspection? Maybe sometime after the depression stage. The wikileaks show that the DNC makes the democrats the party of deception given all the crap they pulled on Sanders. e.g., rigging the debates by passing the questions to Clinton, basically blackmailing Sanders, filtering what was published about Clinton in a lot of the media, etc. The establishments (both the DNC and RNC) are what pushed voters to elect Trump. They are tired of all the crap the DNC/RNC pulls. Think about it... This is the first time in history that a president, who holds the highest office in the land, was elected that wasn't an officer in the military or has not been in any public office previously. It says a lot on what voters think about the establishments given they picked someone as bad as Trump over all the more qualified candidates. The DNC and RNC are the problem. Burn them down and join the Libertarian party, you dummies!

                    • There are more than a few democrats who are in an introspective mood. Democrats who think mostly in terms of economics and democratic processes (modernists), are feeling at odds with the identity politics/PC/SJW crowd (postmodernists).

I think my party should give more heed to the Cory Bookers of the world than to the Elizabeth Warrens.

                        It was pretty good.

There are many groups, those that are introspective, those that will grow disillusioned and those who will seek emotional explanations while ignoring root causes.

An interesting exercise though is looking how outsiders do versus establishment candidates.

Starting with Reagan, a perceived outsider though a favorite of conservatives since 1966, to Bill Clinton, Obama and now Trump, the unexpected candidate won.

Bush 1 won on the tails of Reagan, as Gore and HRC almost did.

Bernie was the candidate that excited the base within the Democratic Party. Establishment Party types want control so they groom an heir apparent, but that is not what the voters want. Party power seems to recycle every 6 to 12 years, with it potentially shortening in the coming years. No more FDR type dominance, until the demographic shift just grabs hold of the electorate.
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

One of my best friends said Trump would win. This was last Saturday. I told him he was nuts. He though is happy

                                OMG no he's not.

Van is great. He is an awesome example of someone who open admits that in his 20s he would've have been the staunchest Bernie supporter but realized as he gets older that it isn't prudent to think that way anymore.

The only silver lining for the DNC of this election is that we are finally rid of the Clintons. Bill carries too much. Agave for young folks, Hillary is not a new voice, and the party leadership now will have to cultivate leaders from the ground up.
