One wishes Hillary could have been more truthful, forthcoming and self-critical about the email mess than she has been. But it's easy to see why she hasn't (and I do NOT mean this as any defense for her). In the 90's, she and Bill did nothing but deny, deny, deny, while condemning their accusers in the strongest (and often false) terms. Yet Bill ended up his presidency with very high approval ratings, and Hillary went on to be a U.S. Senator and then Secretary of State. I'm not a behavioral psychologist, but given the success they enjoyed with that approach, it's understandable (though hardly forgivable) that such lousy behavior persists.

It is shocking how fast the race has tightened. According to the RCP "no toss ups" map, if the election were today, the result would be Clinton at 294 electoral votes and Trump at 244. Both NC and Nevada are trending towards Trump and could turn. That would put the result at 273 to 265. Crazy, close.

But Trump still has a steep road to climb. To make it that close he would pretty much have to run the table in the 9 states that are tossups. And that's with RCP still keeping Utah in Trump's column even though I think there is a more compelling argument that it is actually a tossup state. The only reason RCP has it leaning Trump is because of the one outlier poll done a couple of weeks ago showing Trump up by 17 points. But that one used a methodology that made it harder for a respondent to select a third party candidate. That wouldn't matter in a normal election cycle. But this one it does. According to a tweet I saw, the party registration of early voters is a mixed bag compared to 2012. Iowa, Ohio, Nevada and North Carolina look better for Trump. Colorado and Virginia look better for Hillary.
Ohio and Iowa seem to have the most interesting results, where Trump seems to be clearly outperforming Romney. The question is whether that could bleed over at all to a state like Pennsylvania which also has a large white working class population.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”Comment

Agree. Would be something if the deny, deny, deny, strategy ended up with Hillary getting impeached like her husband. I voted for Hillary. I drove through rural Pennsylvania today and judging by the number of Trump/Pence signs along the road between Washington and Gettysburg I think it's possible.
