I felt the same. I thought he delivered a nice zinger about releasing his tax returns when she released her 33,000 emails. She went on a diatribe about her thoughts as to why he wouldn't want to release these things and what he must be hiding. In my mind I was thinking "she is digging herself in a whole because everything she is saying is equally, if not more, applicable to her missing emails, and then in his rebuttal he completely focused on defending what may or may not be in his tax returns (he spent a stupid amount of time on whether or not he was over leveraged) instead of redirecting the focus on her emails, which was the whole point of the zinger to begin with.

His main goal should have been to make her squirm, and he was terrible at it last night.

I think he was implying that his 10-yr-old son weighs 400 pounds and hacked the DNCs emails.

        • Due to my full schedule I was unable to schedule time to watch the debate.

I am glad I can watch CNN, MSNBC and read on this board how things went. Trump got clobbered by Hillary When Romney clobbered Pres. Obama, he got a 4 pt jump in the polls. It will be interesting to see the pop Hillary gets.

It was a canned response that was just stupid given the context and then her drones in the audience clap and cheer after a really really awkward comment. Just bizarre.
Ha, so true. There was another time later on in the debate where she delivered a zinger (can't remember the content, but I thought it quite good) but then walked all over the punch line, mumbling and bumbling as it was lost into the nothingness of the room.

It was kind cool watching the debate and seeing all the dumb comments people were making about it realtime. The networks need to put up tweets in realtime as well before people finally stop paying the cable bill. Of course, maybe it is too late.
After how poorly Trump did last night, I wonder if Republicans were wishing they had advocated to get the Johnson into the debate. Of course, Trump probably would have just talked over him too.

He was tweeting. Here was my favorite: "Criminal justice reform begins with ending the #WarOnDrugs. @HillaryClinton has been on the wrong side of this issue. #debates"

I think he would have made both look bad which would have muddled the race even more.

                    • I watched about 5-10 minutes. Trump's handlers probably told him to try to act semi-congenial and that lasted for around 5 minutes, then he went full Trump. He was categorically awful.

Hillary looked surprisingly healthy and of course she was prepared. I know it has been said a couple dozen times already and Trump somehow keeps coming back, but last night probably sealed the deal in favor of Hillary.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

That's really the question. Did the debate change any Trump voter to Clinton, and vice versa? I doubt it.

Based on what I am hearing on this board and what I heard on CNN and MSNBC I am expecting Clinton to get a bump. Mainly because Trump voters won't change, Independents maybe a little and I suspect a larger number of democrats who may have been on the fence are with her now.

Unless trump somehow wins the next 2. but since he refuses to even prep for the debates I imagine they will go the same way and clinton wins by a comfortable margin.

that's not what debates ever do.

Some on the fence Trump voters simply won't vote. It's not about switching to Hillary, it's getting the motivation to vote for Trump at all. The guy's a complete disaster.
