The NY Times says Trump is ahead of Clinton in Utah.

based on what poll? No hard evidence cited here to actually back up the Trump over Clinton prediction in Utah. The last poll I've seen (and available to see on realclearpolitics) was from a few weeks ago and had Cliinton narrowly ahead of Trump in Utah.

Not saying Trump couldn't carry Utah, but he is so unpopular there I think the state is definitely in play for the first time since the 60s.

I doubt Trump is this stupid (or that at least his advisers aren't and he'll listen to them), but it'd be awesome if he picked Sarah Palin or Ben Carson as his running mate. But seriously folks, who will join him on the ticket? Christie? Gingrich? His best bet might be Nikki Haley, but I think she's blessed with both principles and a functioning cerebrum so I would think she'd reject him.

If Gary Johnson is smart he'll park himself in Utah to campaign for the next 6 months. The Libertarians could actually win some electoral votes and maybe parlay that into becoming a credible 3rd party.

The smart thing to do would be to beg and plead for a Mitt Romney endorsement. If he gets that, which I could see happening, he has a good shot at winning Utah.

Trump being the nominee is a catastrophe for the Republican party and Hillary is going to win.
