You are forgetting that these massive Trump wins are an optical illusion--a thin slice of the American electorate is carrying him to the nomination. I continue to submit that this is a catastrophe for the Republican party (a long time coming, self-induced, and in retrospect totally understandable), but not the nation--this exposing of the Republican Party's turn to the dark side may be good for the country. I predict that Hillary is going to wallop him.

Donald and Melania Trump remind me of Modern Family's Jay and Gloria Pritchett. But I'd expect Jay to remain faithful longer than would Donald. I'm also disappointed in myself that the current race has reduced me to thinking about such things.

I agree with you. That said, I've been completely wrong from day one about how Trump would be received. There are so many wild cards in this thing that it's tough to be certain about anything that happens in November.

I never thought Trump would get this far and predict a lousy, corrupt candidate will whallop him. I am closing my ears to the sound of "mandate". Hopefully the GOP hangs on to enough seats to be able stop her every move.

Something else to consider: In the 1992 election Bill Clinton finished third in Utah. Yes third! Ross Perot received more votes than Bill Clinton. And now, Hillary Clinton would top Donald Trump in 2016 in Utah.

Blame GOP primary voters for Trump. We have met the enemy and it is us. Despite splitting the vote among a 1/2 dozen opponents through many of the early states, Trump still accumulated more votes than Romney. How is this possible? A significant block of GOP voters are idiots.

If Gary Johnson is smart he'll park himself in Utah to campaign for the next 6 months. The Libertarians could actually win some electoral votes and maybe parlay that into becoming a credible 3rd party.

One of the reasons is he excites them so turnout is higher. I don't like Donald Trump and he doesn't appeal to me but I think his appeal is far more widespread than many of us can grasp. He is putting together a coalition of the angry. I don't think people make good decisions when they are angry but Donald does a good job of assigning blame for people's woes to both the left and the right. If he is going to win, which I wouldn't think is possible but this cycle is strange, the coalition piece that will push him over are those fed up with the absurd. It just strikes me as fiercely coincidental that those who comprise the fed up with the absurd coalition look to Donald Trump for deliverance - but as I said this cycle appears strange to me.
