There will be a price to pay if Ryan doesn't fall in line and do whatever Trump wants. But the joke is on dumbass Trump. He's never read the Constitution so he doesn't know it makes no sense to piss off the guy who holds the keys to your impeachment...or to passing any legislation you want.

Have you not been listening? Trump will lead and people will follow.Originally posted by BlueK View PostThere will be a price to pay if Ryan doesn't fall in line and do whatever Trump wants. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm not defending Trump; he's indefensible. Should Obama, who ordered a drone strike that killed a 16-year old American boy, have been impeached?Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostIf Trump were elected, he'd either have to back down from his statement and reveal himself to be the phony, bloviating bully we believe him to be, or face impeachment pretty much at the outset of his term. If lying under oath about sexual misconduct falls with the range of "high crimes and misdemeanors" how should Congress treat war crimes?

4 states voting tomorrow. I'm putting it out there right now that I believe Trump will not win Kansas or Maine. He may still in KY and LA, but it will be close. All of these award delegates proportionally, so by the end of the day Trump will again get less than the majority of delegates.
Another thing that didn't get hardly any mention from the media is that Trump's margin of victory was less in actual voting than the polls showed in almost every state that voted last Tuesday. Rubio had a ton of ground to make up in VA and nearly won it. Kasich was barely on the radar in VT and essentially tied it. In the delegates awarded he did tie it. Cruz won Texas by 15 points, which was well beyond what most of the polls said.
True that Trump is still winning. It's just not by the landslide he and the media outlets are trying hard to make it sound like. But it does make for a more entertaining story. At some point fairly soon I think the media maybe starts to figure out the entertainment value of a fractured convention, so they'll start rooting for that and their tune will change.Last edited by BlueK; 03-04-2016, 11:54 AM.

No, based on the available evidence. I'm not a big supporter of drone strikes, mainly for strategic reasons, but from the little I've read it was a case of Abdulrahman being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I guess he was in Yemen, having been searching for his dad (the eminently targetable Anwar Al-Awlaki) who was taken out a couple of weeks before his son. But deliberately targeting a noncombatant American minor would be impeachable--I'm open to more evidence.Originally posted by Nakoma View PostI'm not defending Trump; he's indefensible. BTW, I'm currently reading The United States of Jihad which provides a lot of fascinating information about terrorists in the U.S., including the aforementioned Anwar Al-Awlaki, whose death we need not mourn.

And hours later, the Donald reverses himself. I'm pleased his advisers were able to persuade him that he has to follow the law.

I'm pretty confident about Kansas given the most recent polling showing it to be close and the fact that at the ballot box Trump has underperformed the polls in most cases, especially in caucus states, although he did win in Nevada. Kansas caucus voters are similar to Iowa, and maybe even more evangelical and conservative. Cruz will be celebrating his "great" victory there in just over 24 hours.Originally posted by Maximus View PostHe will win all 4 comfortably IMO.
Maine is a little harder to judge because there has been no recent polling. The thing is, Kasich has been strong so far in almost every northeastern state and shocked the Trumpster in Vermont. That, and Maine being a caucus closed to non-republicans makes me think Trump is far from a shoo-in there. There was a poll taken a couple of months ago showing Trump actually pretty weak there (similar to Utah in fact). Of course info like that doesn't get any play in the media because saying "Trump leads the polls in every state" is more sensational and fun to report.Last edited by BlueK; 03-04-2016, 12:19 PM.

I wanted to like Kasich last night, as he is clearly the most Presidential of the GOP candidates, but I thought he was kind of lousy last night. Maybe he is just a bad debater, as most of the stuff I know about him I've read and not seen. He seemed to be all about name-dropping and added minimal substance at all to any of his answers. Which committees he has served on. How long on each committee. Blah Blah. Yeah, we get that you knew Ronald Reagan. Now answer the question!

or persuade him to say he will follow the law. He made it very clear how he feels last night. I give him next to zero credit for this backtrack.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostAnd hours later, the Donald reverses himself. Agreed. He has no respect for the law as it pertains to what government can or can't do. He only talks and acts based on what he thinks people want to hear. The only thing that happened here is that someone persuaded him that not that many people want their commander in chief to promote genocide.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View Postor persuade him to say he will follow the law. Drumpf is so stoopid... and tweets like a fascist:Originally posted by BlueK View PostAgreed. He has no respect for the law as it pertains to what government can or can't do. How We Fooled Donald Trump Into Retweeting Benito Mussolini
Is Donald Trump a fascist? Experts, historians, and pundits have debated the question for months. One thing has been certain for a while now: He tweets like one. That’s why, last year, Gawker’s Ashley Feinberg created a Twitter bot that would post quotes from the writings and speeches of the Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini, but with all of them attributed to businessman and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. This morning, he retweeted that account.
Twitter is Trump’s preferred social media platform for direct communication with his followers, haters, and—most importantly—the journalists who obsessively cover his carnival-like presidential campaign. It’s where Trump goes to personally insult his enemies and opponents, but it’s also where he seeks evidence of his greatness, and regularly retweets (in his idiosyncratic style, quoting entire tweets rather than using the network’s built-in retweet tool) praise for himself.
