I'm not sure what to make of Carson. He must be smart to get where he's gotten. But he sure says some crazy things at times. Among the crazy things he has said - it's difficult to blame him on things like Chinese soldiers in Syria when you read that a private contractor operating in the region told him that Chinese soldiers were there, on the ground, advising. He needs to do a better job of confirming what he's hearing before he speaks - but let's not pretend he's the first one to spout off and state something as fact when it hasn't been confirmed yet.

Just listen to most of what Hillary said about Benghazi when that first occurred if you need an example from the other side. (Though I'm not sure that's a good example. Hillary may have been straight out lying - while Carson may have actually believed what he was saying...)

true. That's why I said GOP populism. "Populism" right now pretty much means the lower common denominator idiot faction of each party.

This article I think makes several good observations about the republican campaigns.

On the campaign trail with the most dishonest, bumbling and underqualified pack of presidential candidates in history

As for me I was not making a comparison. But the fact is that sanders tried to refuse taking about the Paris attacks, which had just happened, because he wasnt prepared on foreign policy. Who wants a guy as president who can't handle unexpected events? Isn't that why we look for guiding principles In a candidate? Sanders might be better than Carson, but it doesn't really matter because on his own merits he is terrible.

Weird. Are we really talking as if Sanders or Carson could become president of the United States?
              Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I don't believe Carson's story about some "contractor" telling him that. That's pretty silly.

They are both nuts and highly unlikely to win the election, but Sanders has been in congress since 1990 (senator for the last 9-10 years). His ideology is extreme, but he is intelligent and hard-working and has been immersed in foreign policy issues for much of his career. Carson has been doing surgery and pimping snake-oil quack medicine products. There is no comparison.

That is what I thought about Trump, too. However, it looks like he has a decent shot at winning.
