I would roll my eyes and vote for bush or rand. Perry was a decent administrator, so I'm willing to give him a second look. If it's Huckabee or Cruz, I'll probably stay home.

Rand Paul will be an awful candidate. He has a streak of crazy that he's sometimes able to suppress, but it will come out and when it does it won't be pretty. Cruz, Rubio and Paul all need an honest advisor to tell them to sit it out for a couple more cycles.

I'm interested if any of the midwestern GOP governors will give it a shot. Kasich, Walker and Snyder are all imminently more qualified and capable than any of the names thrown out, with the possible exception of Jeb.

But didn't Hillary herself say that you have to be a little bit crazy to run for president? Maybe Rand could use that to his advantage.

Why can't there be a non-crazy candidate who is fiscally conservative and socially liberal? I like Rand Paul, but agree that he will come off too much like his old man and seem crazy.

In my opinion, it's because the tea party has a significant % of social conservatives, and they are still dicking around with the GOP. In what sane world are Rubio, Cruz, and Paul viable candidates for the nomination? One in which the TP controls the dialogue.

For some reason I'm not too worried about Bush or Clinton if they were to run. Meaning, I don't think either would screw up the country. I'm not sure I would love either, but I like to think they'd have the experience themselves as well as experienced people around them that could give them some pretty good advice on what's important, what isn't, and how to govern in the most powerful position in the country. I think they'd both be more centered than anything - which is probably a good thing.

Obviously I don't think either would get me way excited - but they don't necessarily scare me either.

Kind of sad that picking the president of the country has come to this. Who's scary, and who won't screw it up, instead of who is the best person for the job.

TMQ on Hillary

Clinton did a fine job in the Senate and as secretary of state; she's highly qualified. My big worry is that she's an opportunist whose first priority is self-promotion, not the interests of the nation. One example: around the time she was leaving the White House as first lady, Clinton decried "a consumer-driven culture that promotes values that undermine both capitalism and democracy" while declaring the nation "being undermined by consumer capitalism."

Shortly thereafter, she bought a $1.7 million house and signed an $8 million book contract. In today's money, that's a $2.4 million house and an $11 million book contract. There's nothing wrong with nice houses or high income. What's disturbing is when a political leader pretends to be modest, urges other to be modest -- and then cashes in. Now Clinton galivants across the country taking extravagant speaking fees from reading some boilerplate off a teleprompter. But everybody else should avoid materialism!

They don't scare me either. But if they become the nominees, it paves the way for the coronation of either Jeb Bush III or Chelsea's daughter. Political dynasties should be avoided.

If you mean Chelsea instead of her daughter, I don't think she could be elected. She is female.

Those guys are weirdos. Paul has some charisma but Cruz and Rubio are not very likable guys.

I will agree with you on Cruz. I was talking with my brothers a few months ago complaining about Lee hanging out with Cruz. They said if he keeps hanging out with him they too will look for someone else to vote for Utah Senator.
