This has got to be the sorriest set of candidates we've ever had for president from either side - seriously. Talk about potential for an apathetic turn out.

We need Montgomery Brewster to jump into the race with his "vote none of the above" campaign. Can't we please have a do-over?

Sanders might be better than Carson, but it doesn't really matter because on his own merits he is terrible.
      Agreed.

Firtthirtyeight.com has an interesting graph upon discussing the demise of Jindahl, pointing out being somebody's second or third favorite choice at this time, with so many available candidates, is not a great position to be in.

        • Since Jim Webb is gone, the best candidate is Bush or Christie. Bush can't win the national election and probably can't get the nomination.

Carson's flakiness is starting to dawn on people. So that leaves Cruz, Trump and Rubio for the republicans that are getting any traction right now. If there are a couple more terrorist events in Europe, I could see a small opening for Christie in New Hampshire -- some kind of 2008 John McCain scenario -- where he comes out of nowhere and wins that primary.

Hillary will get the Democratic nomination unless she's under indictment. Even then, maybe the Democrats would still nominate her, lol. The Quinnipiac poll out of Colorado today indicate that Hillary looks like a disaster in that state against either Carson, Rubio, Cruz and Trump. Sanders polls better than Hillary.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I was trolling a conservative friend a few weeks ago about how the Republicans just can't get out of their own way. After the eights years of the worst president in the history of presidents, when the Democrat nominee is practically guaranteed to be the spouse of the previous worst president in the history of presidents, whose own run up to the election can't seem to get out of her own way, and THESE are the candidates that they get to choose from? Amazing.

Carson has been doing surgery and pimping snake-oil quack medicine products. There is no comparison.
What part of "I was not making a comparison" didn't come through?

Seriously. I half expect Romney to jump back in.

My original post wasn't directed solely to you. There was a discussion going on with several posters and it was very clearly a Carson vs. Sanders comparison. See previous page of this thread.

You and a couple of very hopeful FB friends of mine.

But going back to Schr-ute's post, if Romney couldn't beat the worst president in the history of presidents, what makes anyone think that a late half-assed campaign by Romney will work this time?

Yeah, but a late half-assed campaign is still a disaster in a non-incumbent election.
