But when I thought about it, I figured out that I really haven't heard him speaking until now (haven't watched the debates, and I stay away from TV news channels). He needs to figure out that no one wants him to be the nominee outside of a cloistered (but wealthy) class of donors.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”Comment

I don't think Cruz will implode. He probably won't win the nomination, but he won't implode. All things considered, he's run a very competent campaign. He's fundraised well, handled his media appearances effectively to the point where he's not an afterthought. Cruz is, as Alan Dershowitz says, "off the charts brilliant."
