Thanks. Of course the candidate running for the dems is Hillary not President Obama, so may there is more of an anti Hillary vote in the Evangelical community. I just don't get the animosity toward mormons from those who are pretty conservative in their beliefs.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postactually an interesting study on that here: http://bfy.tw/7icc

They don't like Obama either. Maybe they like Hillary even less, but I would bet the difference there is much smaller than the difference in how much more they've embraced Trump over Romney. Living among lots of Evangelicals, I would say I think the problem is Evangelicals actually perceive Mormons to be socially liberal compared to themselves. I know that makes no sense to mormons or non-Evangelicals in general, but it's true. Evangelicals are just weird that way. All they could talk about with Romney in 2012 and especially 2008 was how he's soft on abortion, gay rights, etc.Originally posted by byu71 View PostThanks. I am in utter amazement that this race is close. I believed Hillary was very even likely beatable by a decent candidate but I clearly overestimated her. Trump is the worst candidate in perhaps history - except for maybe Hillary Clinton.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I said from the beginning that Hillary was not electable. That was before Trump was the GOP frontrunner. I agree that they are the two worst candidates in history--at least in my memory.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI am in utter amazement that this race is close. On another note, I love how Trump's son says that the 15,000 page tax return would detract from Trump's message. Even if it did, that's probably not the right way to justify not releasing it. The length only underscores that he's a part of the 1%, and also how many loopholes he's taking advantage of. So don't release the return. Give us some totals of basic categories like say effective tax rate.

Not likely by much, but I think we are further apart on just how awful The Scold is.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostYou and I clearly disagree on just how awful Trump is.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

The cycle could be starting again.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostAnd?
She's a horrible candidate and a horrible person. That drags her down, but he's such a buffoon all she needs to do is cruise control to victory. He'll do something stupid here pretty soon that will bring his numbers back down. It's his cycle. That's science.
Trump has a following that is going to get him at least 40% off the bat. That next 11% is near impossible unless she comes across as even more horrible than she has already. If she does that, she deserves to lose and you can take out your anger and angst on her. Like that basket of deplorables comment. How can anyone not deplore her for that comment? She deserves to lose if she keeps that up.
But this is not going to happen.

That is certainly distasteful but like 1 billionth down on the list of distasteful things about the Donald and besides, it was his son who said it.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

These cycles start this way. You absolutely could be right, but this election cycle has been amazing to me. Trump has said whatever he wants and many times I have thought that the latest stupid thing would be the thing to finally unravel his presidential bid, but it never does. Hillary is taking it on the chin over the health issues and will until she can do something to move people on to another issue. Maybe the Donald will do something so over the top that she won't have to, but honestly, what would that even look like? He has done so many stupid things and it just doesn't seem to matter.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostThese cycles start this way. Nate Silver has Trump's chances at 39%, it appears Hillary's Weekend at Bernies audition is affecting recent polls.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
