Again, your "back in the game" logic implies that there is some magical switch that is flipped where you go from smart-and-efficient-non-voter to fulfilling-my-civic-duty. Nonsense. It is a continuum. Your logic is based purely on self interest and laziness.
If this is the case then why do we not have a true democracy?

What are you talking about? This is a cost benefit analysis an only a cost benefit analysis. The magic switch is merely a factor of when does the benefit outweigh the cost.

Maybe you should put your absentee ballot on ebay and sell it to the highest bidder.

And again, if everyone applies the same cost-benefit analysis (the impact is the same for every voter), the system fails. Non-voters are dedending upon (and leeching off) the efforts of voters. I am surprised that you are such a staunch defender of freeloading.

I think we should move to a purely democratic society then to honor your belief in a pure democracy and how our whole system will fail unless we have democracy, dammit!

We could all get together ever other week or so to vote on such interesting things as speed limits and what kind of toilet paper should be bought for the local court house. We certainly don't want people free loading on the votes of others after all.

You know you are out on a limb when you bust out the democracy vs. republic argument.

I see, so there are some levels of freeloading that you find acceptable.

Ugh. The garbage can is all the way over there. I cannot be bothered to walk this Snickers wrapper that far. I think I'll just drop it.

Let's make it as simple as possible.

Supporting the established civic system =/= freeloading.
Relying on others to support the established civic system when you are given a civic duty == freeloading.

I don't know if I'm a nicer person because of it, but I also went cold turkey on politics after the 2012 election. I used to be a huge junkie, watching the news all the time and listening to political talk radio. I don't pay attention to any of it anymore. It is amazing how little impact it has on your life when you aren't constantly paying attention to it. I'm pretty disenchanted with pretty much everyone in both parties.

                            Yes, you are much nicer.

"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Does everyone see this? Into politics and not a very nice person.
