The 2016 Presidential Election Primary Thread
Cruz is creepy. It's not just that he's naturally creepy, which he is in spades, but every response he gives in the debates is some over the top (yes, even for a debate that is already over the top) memorized statement that his minions turn into a quick Twitter video.Last edited by Moliere; 01-18-2016, 03:22 PM."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

You are giving him too much credit. He is a smart lawyer who understands politics but he isn't some type of social wizard/genius. I think he believes and will do a lot of what he says he will. With a GOP congress, that is terrifying. He was pretty extreme as a senator. Mitt Romney said stuff he didn't mean or wouldn't do. It's not the same with Cruz.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postcruz has created a persona, and it's brilliant. cruz the president would not be cruz the candidate.

You can say the same about Trump, but it's more believable. I wouldn't let cruz babysit tbh.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postcruz has created a persona, and it's brilliant. cruz the president would not be cruz the candidate."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! This is my main hang up with Cruz (despite the creepiness factor). When he says he'll annihilate ISIS, I expect another increased war on terrorism, which IMO isn't worth the cost. When he says he'll build a wall on teh Mexican border, he'll actually do it (everyone knows Trump won't do this).Originally posted by frank ryan View PostYou are giving him too much credit. The hardest thing for me to stomach for any candidate, Democrat or Republican, are their foreign policy positions. The only two candidates who aren't war mongering are Bernie (who is wrong on everything else save criminal justice reform) and Rand Paul (who is a non starter). A needlessly hawkish foreign policy will continue.Originally posted by Moliere View PostThis is my main hang up with Cruz (despite the creepiness factor). He's obviously playing long-game as we have talked about previously, but how far does he go? He may very well f* up immigration some more for the next 8 years rather than fix it.Originally posted by old_gregg View Posti actually think he might be"I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! He is doing well because Trump is pushing the narrative into the insane authoritarian/pro-robber baron regions of the republican party and Cruz is the second most strident candidate out there. He rode the Tea Party to power in Texas and has remained their darling in the senate every since. He hasn't shown the ability to nuance his stances to keep up with a fickle electorate.Originally posted by old_gregg View Posti actually think he might beLast edited by frank ryan; 01-18-2016, 08:54 PM.
