  • I don't get the criticism.

Even if you want to change the rules, you play by the rules until the rules change.

    There's nothing hypocritical about that.

All of the financial criticism thrown Hillary's way right now seems really ticky-tack and reminds of the crap that was thrown Romney's way.

Overall I agree with you. However, when dems start throwing around words like "the rich need to pay their fair share" I think it is more than appropriate to point out that nobody is prohibiting the rich dems like Hillary to pay their "fair share" to the government, whatever that means.

Right I get that. But most estimates of their net worth exceed $50M on the low end.

I agree. She could undercut the criticism by embracing how much they have made and making herself as an example of people who should pay more and have their tax shelters eliminated. Obama is a master at that. I don't agree with the policy but it plays with the masses.

          • There are as many rich dems as rich republicans. I have no problem with Hillary, Bill President Obama and others chasing after the big buck.

I wonder why the dems are more successful at labeling repubs as fat cats. Probably because they are always promoting programs that appear to be anti-rich.

It is just a philosophical difference. Dems believe in taxing and the government deciding who gets helped. Repubs believe in keeping more of the earnings and letting the individual decide who to help through charitable giving.

You also agree that you are a moran and an idiot. Then it's settled.

Cleveland is going to host the 2016 GOP convention. Does this mean that Portman does actually have some influence? Could Portman possibly run and win in 2016? I doubt it given his stance on gay marriage.....but weirder things have happened.

                  I liked this comment:

Some Republican donors privately said Texas, where the Republican Party recently made strong stands in its platform against gay rights and endorsing “reparative therapy” for gays, would send the wrong message at a time when the GOP needs to expand its base.

A critical component of the RNC’s “autopsy” after the 2012 election was the need to appeal to an increasingly diverse electorate. Holding the convention in a heavily African-American city provides a backdrop that helps the party avoid the appearance of homogeneity.
