Maybe Chick fil a wouldn't go so far, but I'm betting there are thousands of businesses in the US that would refuse service to gays if they thought they could get away with it.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostIt's a business providing employment and services to people of all persuasions. There is no heterosexual soda fountain counter, there is no gay play place. The objective of Woolworth's and CFA are not the same."In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. Thousands of US businesses consist of one or two people. Given that threshold, the above quote could be converted into a fill-in-the-blank exercise where you could find any number of businesses that would refuse service to ______.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostMaybe Chick fil a wouldn't go so far, but I'm betting there are thousands of businesses in the US that would refuse service to gays if they thought they could get away with it.

There were two groups that were at chickfila today. The first were the people that were protesting the various mayors comments that they want to keep cfa out of their towns. This protest makes some sense as I'd prefer people decide who gets their business instead of city government, although I realize it's still somewhat bigoted. The other group consisted of gay haters and traditional family supporters.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI wonder if a lot of conservative white folks rallied to support Woolworth's back during the Civil Rights movement when they refused to serve blacks in Memphis. Probably.
That being said, your comparison isn't really relevant."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

OK, tens of thousands. Whatever. And just because other businesses would discriminate against other groups doesn't make it any better. I'm sure a lot of businesses would blacklist Mormons as fast as they would gays.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostThousands of US businesses consist of one or two people. How horrible that the government would prohibit some people from doing something it lets everyone else do just because they don't like something they do and feel like it would have a bad influence on their community.Originally posted by Moliere View PostThe first were the people that were protesting the various mayors comments that they want to keep cfa out of their towns."In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. Also, I think chik-fil-a is the only fast food place that serves Diet DP. I like that.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

On a related note, today has been proclaimed Chick-fil-a appreciation day by Mike Huckabee, but honestly I'm pretty sure that everyday is Chick-fil-a appreciation day for Mike.

This entire discussion is absolutely retarded.
There is no similarity between CFA and any form of actual discrimination. CFA has no discriminatory practices or policies and undoubtedly employs homosexuals at all levels of the organization. CFA also serves without discrimination.
The founder/CEO is an evangelical and voiced his opinion in regards to homosexuality.
Because intolerance of intolerance is obviously the way to go, several politicians decided to try to use their political power to threaten someone who espouses a different philosophy.
The only real issue to be found is the inappropriate use of political power to try and silence those who hold differing opinions.
If someone wants to boycott CFA because Cathy doesn't support gay marriage, more power to them, that is totally appropriate. If politicians are barring CFA from opening due to Cathy's views, that is criminal. So far as I can tell CFA has done nothing wrong and this is nothing more than the liberal thought police trying to show us how intolerant they are.
