On the news tonight, the reporter interviewed a woman in line at CFA and she said she was there to "support CFAs right to express its opinion." I truly believe that she was in the line thinking that CFAs right to express its opinion was at issue. Mission accomplished, woman in line at CFA!
I didn't mean it in a legal sense. The "right" to shop there isn't at issue, as I think my post that you quoted makes clear.

How is it that government officials threatening the free enterprise of an individual's business because of something that individual said is not at least close to being a violation of the First Amendment?

I concede that there may be some technical reasons as to why this isn't a violation, but clearly these government officials are trying to control speech.

      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Let's compile a list of fast food restaurants that need to STFU and just cook the damn food.

            1. In-N-Out Burger for printing bible passages on various pieces of their packaging. This is upsetting to folks of other faiths that don't believe in the bible. (And FTR, I don't go to In-N-Out because I don't want to read the bible. I don't go to In-N-Out because I hate their fries.)

            2. Domino's Pizza for its founder supporting various pro-life organizations.

            3. The Carl's Jr's for its founder for donating to many pro-life and anti-gay rights organizations/initiatives including the 1978 California ballot proposition to ban gays and lesbians from working in the state's public schools.

            3. Wendy's for pulling its advertising from the sitcom "Ellen" when it was revealed that Ellen DeGeneres was coming out of the closet.

            4. Burger King for sponsoring 18.85 instances of sex, violence or profanity for every 30 seconds of commercial airtime they purchased during primetime network television. Thanks to CLeaR-TV (Christian Leaders for Responsible Television) for pointing this one out.

            5. McDonald's for its sponsorship of the 2007 San Francisco Gay Pride parade and then bragging about it by stating that McDonald's is "a company that actively demonstrates its commitment to the gay and lesbian community" and not showing those gay friendly commercial in the United States but only in France.

I guess the mayors of Boston and San Francisco needs to add some restaurants to their "keep the hell out of my city because you are upsetting some of my people" list.

Or they can keep talking. Then consumers may make the choice whether or not they should patronize their business.

I don't believe any of those serve Diet DP. I don't like that.

True but, as I recall, some folks were upset that MickeyD's only ran those gay friendly ads in France.

What the hell are they thinking doing selling their "food" to French people sounds like a disaster. Can you imagine both the service and the complaints?

France is McDonalds' number 2 market.

I didn't know that but that is probably something the country and the chain like to keep quiet in America.

I believe Wendy's does but that may be a Texas-only thing. I could be wrong because all Whataburgers have Diet DP and makes a good burger so I don't go to Wendy's all that often around here.

And isn't that really the heart of the issue here? The anti Diet DP sentiment among popular restaurants! Talk about a moral outrage!
