I still think that mindset stinks. I am for Romney largely because he is the smartest, seemingly most capable, most upright candidate in my opinion. I have never been a huge fan, but compared to the jokers he is up against, there is no competition. I can't stand Huntsman even though he is Mormon, and I would donate money to any competitor of Harry Reid. The tribal/group identification perhaps adds a little enthusiasm once you've already decided the candidate is acceptable, but it should never be a major part of the reason.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostThat's exactly it. I'm not sold on Romney 100%, but I simply want to know if a Mormon can actually become the President in the U.S. I inwardly criticized my black, conservative friends for jumping on the BO bandwagon, but I now have a lot more empathy for their mindset.

Agreed. There's never a perfect candidate (meaning one that has the right position on every issue I care about, etc.) so you have to pick the one who comes the closest. I committed to Romney a long time ago and think the country would be better off with him as POTUS than anyone else running. Yes, he sometimes induces cringes. But he's the best in the field. Still, if I were a left-of-center Democrat I am sure I wouldn't support Mitt any more than a right-of-center Republican would support Harry Reid.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI still think that mindset stinks. In the words of Jim Welch yesterday Mitt Romney is "the most qualified presidential candidate I have seem in my lifetime."Originally posted by LA Ute View PostAgreed. I've made up my mind. If Romney gets the nomination he's getting my money (or what little I have of it). I'm going to ride this train if/when it leaves the station.
And yes, my donation is contingent on him getting the nomination....sorta like my Cougar Club membership, which is contingent on BYU joining a real conference. In fact, maybe I'll write Holmoe a letter and let him know his money is going to Romney."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. I'm proud of him. From somewhere George is watching. Probably Miles too.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

This reminds me. Has anyone noticed that Mitt's hair doesn't seem as perfect this time around? He seems to consistently have a couple pieces falling in front of his forehead. This is a change from 2008 when he had such perfect hair that it looked plastic. Looks like Mitt is listening to focus groups."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. It's his hair and eyebrows on a smiley. Spent two minutes on it. Maybe I'll make a better one when I have more time.Originally posted by Moliere View PostYou drew that didn't you?
