  • Dem leadership: ‘If People Loot, So What? Burn It To The Ground’

Seattle police union chief: City leaders have 'lost all political will to enforce the rule of law'

The city leadership in Seattle has “lost all the political will to enforce the rule of law,” according to Michael Solan, president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild.

“There is an unreasonable activist trench that is, unfortunately, stealing the peaceful protest message for justice for George Floyd,” Solan told “The Ingraham Angle” on Wednesday night.

Solan said that activists continue to occupy a six-block area in the city of Seattle that includes a shuttered police precinct.

“It is absolutely unreasonable activism and we are pulling our hair out because we are true public safety professionals that took an oath of service," he said. "And we are holding our elected leaders responsible for this travesty on the overall amazing Seattle community that are law-abiding citizens that are yearning for police officer’s public safety services,” Solan said.

Hundreds of protesters, aided by a sympathetic city council member, stormed Seattle's City Hall Tuesday night to demand the mayor's resignation, just days after seizing the six-block downtown zone.

Demonstrators remained peaceful, without reports of violence or injuries, but are pushing Mayor Jenny Durkan to step down if she refuses to defund the city's police department.

And Dem leaders now are wondering how to pay the bar tab...

Chicago mayor considers property tax hikes as residents fear exodus from city
Laying off city employees could be on the table too

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she couldn't keep raising property taxes "off the table" as the city faces a budget shortfall and Chicago businesses struggle to recover from both looting and the coronavirus shutdown.

"I can't take it off the table, but it is truly the last thing I want to do," Lightfoot said at a press conference this week.

Laying off city employees could be on the table too as the city faces an estimated budget shortfall of $700 million.

Most likely... Who wants to live downtown where all the 7-11's have been destroyed and insurance rates have skyrocketed? Folks need their slurpees.

It will also most likely contribute to less globalization and more isolation. Who wants to depend on China for medical supplies?

It has certainly reinforced by belief that I live in the right place. Despite being in California, we have really not been impacted by either.

          • Dammit Amazon... you need to get rid of this racist sh*t movie:

‘Gone With the Wind’ Hits No. 1 on Amazon Best-Sellers Chart After HBO Max Drops Movie

“Gone With the Wind” zipped to the top of Amazon’s best-sellers sales chart for TV and movies, a day after WarnerMedia’s HBO Max pulled the movie for “racist depictions.”

Amazon bases its rankings on sales data. The site currently offers the 70th anniversary two-disc DVD edition of “Gone With the Wind” starting at $29.55, while Amazon Video offers the movie as a digital HD rental at $3.99 and for purchase at $9.99.

Plus, we have all proven we can work from home now, so who needs expensive downtown real estate?

              • NYC's first lady says a city without police "would be like a nirvana, a utopia"...

Chirlane McCray says NYPD-free New York City would be ‘nirvana’

New York City first lady Chirlane McCray — whom Mayor Bill de Blasio has credited for his executive decision to jump on the “defund the police” bandwagon — said no cops patrolling the streets would be a “nirvana,” according to a report.

“That would be like a nirvana, a utopia that we are nowhere close to getting to,” McCray told Time magazine on Tuesday.

                • People who jump on the no police bandwagon should be forever blacklisted from calling the police in the future.

                  • Maybe it’s because I’m not following the news very closely, but why doesn’t Defund the Police mean that people don’t necessarily want the police gone? I’m confused. Are they expecting the police to work for free? Do they want less police?

Time to rename the entire city 'CHAZ' permanently:

Councilwoman Sawant says 'CHAZ' should be permanently in community control

As the Seattle Police Department works to broker a deal with protesters occupying an autonomous zone in the heart of Capitol Hill, a Seattle City Councilmember said the area known as "CHAZ" should remain in community control permanently.

The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, known as "CHAZ," has been in community control since Tuesday, when Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best decreased the officers' presence in the East Precinct to allow for peaceful protests.

Seattle Councilwoman Kshama Sawant called the "CHAZ" movement a major victory. She said the area should be turned over permanently into community control, instead of back in the hands of the Seattle Police Department.

                      • Making people aware of their implicit biases doesn’t usually change minds. But here’s what does work

                        https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/...YJroOBhbI9gKcY

"People have deep-seated biases of which they are completely unaware. And these hidden attitudes — known as implicit bias — influence the way we act toward each other, often with unintended discriminatory consequences ...

                        Implicit bias is pervasive

Hundreds of studies have revealed the workings of implicit bias in a wide range of settings. Here are a few examples that demonstrate how it can occur in just about any situation in which people make decisions that affect other people.

In law enforcement: A study found that police in New York City stopped black and Hispanic pedestrians more often than white pedestrians, and a study in Oakland, California, found that black men were far more likely to be handcuffed, searched or arrested than anyone else when stopped by police ...

In the hospital: Doctors were more likely to offer a blood-clot-busting treatment to white patients with acute coronary disease than to black patients with the same symptoms, and nursing students showed a bias against overweight patients.

In a pandemic? A study showed that when people feel especially vulnerable to infectious disease, their negative attitudes toward older adults may be heightened."

Looks like the case of rape, robbery are already taking place in this “Autonomous Zone” and the Seattle Police are unable to protect when the calls come in.

Or, they're playing the long game of letting people see the results of no policing. Do you really want to defund the police?

But, more likely, they're feckless idiots.
