This one looks bad, but given the particulars, I'm not ready to condemn. But, <REDACTED>, that's brutal.

At least he went up and over and not under the car. You got a crazy man with a loaded weapon who has already squeezed off a round and there are civilians in the area. The rundown seems excessive but something more than "stay back" had to be done.

From the context of the video alone the police action seems horrific, but the backstory seems to justify the use of force. I bet one thing, the wives of the officers in the other patrol cars are sure glad Robocop took the guy out in a bold move, alleviating an exchange of gunfire.

I hear excessive and it does look bad. What are the alternatives? Talk to him and perhaps get shot? Talk to him and perhaps a citizen gets shot? Talk to him and perhaps he calms down and gives up his weapon. Perhaps you could water cannon him before he shoots someone.

I will admit if I had a grandchild in the area I want the guy taken out immediately. I know I am a heartless so and so.

Part of what is shocking about the video is that you don't hear any discussion over the radio about what should be done. Then all of the sudden "boom!".

I know. I was agreeing with you, but probably not in a clear fashion.

Cops have to be the lowest paid per hour of anyone whose decisions are likely to have grave consequences. I don't think teachers are comparable, but they too make decisions that can have grave consequences and are paid low on a relative basis.

Depending on the department cops do ok.

Something between taser and running over him. I'm closer to the car solution than taser. But we are analyzing this after a very lucky resolution; the guy lived. This could have very easily ended up with severe paralytic injury or death. This can't be an acceptable scenario for dangerous situations.

Yeah the only problem I have with it is it seems too risky for the police officer. The perp was threatening to kill himself anyway and deserves to die. Seemed like almost a suicide by cop situation.
