"Anything is possible. I don't close any doors that perhaps would be open out there, so, no, I wouldn't close that door," Palin said after casting her vote in Alaska's Republican caucuses. "My plan is to be at that convention."

They just did some delegate counting on CNN. Romney fell just short of 1144.

It won't be a brokered convention. All the counts that have Mitt falling just short of the mark are always worst case for him. If it does drag out that long, he's the only one with the money to last.

Was this based on current projections? I'd assume that once the candidates can no longer show a path to the nomination their money would dry up and they'd be forced to leave the race, leaving the remaining candidate to clean up.

Also, I find it somewhat annoying that the entire primary process is about pandering to the extreme wing of the party just to be the nominee that can appeal to the middle in the general election. It makes no sense.

What's disingenuous about the "panels" is that Romney is DOMINATING the centrist republican vote. This bodes very poorly for Obama's blue dog/Reagan democrats hopes. This has been developing very consistently over the past few primaries.

If the evangelicals decide that they hate Obama more than Romney and the economy is simply "ok", not accelerating, Romney could win it close.

But 1. None of these guys are backing down, and 2. Even if they did, there's no guarantee that those votes go to Romney.

What bugs me is all these so called "True Conservatives" who acknowledge Mitt is more electable but vote for Santorum. Some of them must hate Mormons more than they hate Obama.
