I think they're trying to say that if she is re-elected, it would be implicitly saying that bullying trans (or suspected trans) is acceptable.

Agreed. I also thought Frank was saying that this whole horrible episode was a symptom of some the attitudes from that crowd and if they feel like this is simply acceptable collateral damage, she could get reelected.

I'm optimistic that attitude does not prevail and she will lose.

I don't think you will get much pushback from the general Utah population as a whole supporting a ban "gender affirming care." To most people though, this simply means banning sexual reassignment surgery or hormone replacement therapy to those under the age of 18. I'm sure this isnt the whole picture, but its not like activists are doing a very good job of explaining it either.

Advocates of trans care do not do the movement favors by lumping everything under "gender-affirming care". But my cynical side thinks equating counseling with radical life-altering surgery under the same vague umbrella term is intentional.
