Agreed. I also thought Frank was saying that this whole horrible episode was a symptom of some the attitudes from that crowd and if they feel like this is simply acceptable collateral damage, she could get reelected.

Utah Republican convention is a joke. That MAGA idiot Phil Lyman got 67% of the delegate vote, with Cox getting something like 27%. But look at his support among republicans in general:

SALT LAKE CITY — Despite being booed and bounced as his own party's nominee, Governor Spencer Cox is massively popular in the state.

The survey, released Monday by Noble Predictive Insights, finds the incumbent Republican governor enjoying 81% of support among GOP voters. Blanding Rep. Phil Lyman, who won the GOP convention on Saturday, sits at 6%.

I haven't been able to find any info on what the Lt. Gov was referring to. News articles just mentioned that some people were yelling vulgarities but no context on who was yelling, at whom where they yelling, or under what circumstances.

I tried to do that today but learned that I needed to switch in January in order to participate in the GOP primary.

I got tired of keeping track, so for now I'm just staying with the GOP. Maybe after the primary I'll switch back to Democrat so they can whine about how many people are doing this.

I doubt there's any real info other than as anecdotally relayed to LG by her nieces. Those conventions are pure chaos and emotional. It wouldn't surprise me at all if some assholes said something rude to her nieces they wouldn't have said in any other circumstance. Especially if the leader of the movement encourages horrible behavior. It's a lot like a football game where someone says something rude to a kid because they're wearing the wrong colors.

This is further evidence that the convention system is irreparably broken. I went to the state convention in 2010 and then the county one a couple years ago. It has only gotten worse and turned me off toward ever returning to the party, at least here in Utah. And since the wife keeps vetoing a move to a small town in Wyoming, it looks like I am permanently out.
