The message is great. It should be amplified. Both sides should be screaming this, and from the top of the ticket. Unfortunately for Vance, his boss seems to be going the other way, calling his opponents enemies who need to be handled because they are sick, evil people. I really hope Vance's message gains traction, but I am skeptical.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I am sure it is the Russians voting for Trump!

      • It's my mission (well, for today at least) to get USUC and others to just warm up to the idea that although Trump isn't Mussolini, he is on the same side of the spectrum. It isn't just a both parties and leaders are terrible, which they are.

This looks like it would be a good article (behind a paywall, alas), but it starts off strong:

One of the things we’ve learned over the last decade is that a strongman can’t take power by himself.

He needs a popular movement behind him. But he also needs the support of pliant institutions and the submission of elites. Only when these three legs of the stool have been assembled can the authoritarian exert his will to power.

So what does Donald Trump have? He has 30 percent of the country eager to follow him to the gates of hell and 47 percent of the country willing to vote for him, no matter what. That’s a popular movement.

He owns the Republican party, body and soul. He has coopted the entirety of the conservative intellectual movement. And his corruption of the Supreme Court is so total that in the last year the High Court has invalidated a Constitutional provision in deference to his presidential campaign and invented a grant of presidential immunity in defense of his criminal liabilities. That’s the institutional component.

And we all know that Trump has broken Republican elites and forced them into submission.

Yet there’s a difference between knowing something and seeing it.
Then he apparently lists a bunch of people on the right who weren't afraid to make soft fascist claims in 2016, who support Trump 100% now. If the vast majority of elected GOP officials are all in with Trump now, exactly who is going to stop Trump's retribution campaign if he wins? If you were a betting person, after all we've seen, do you think Trump's second presidency would be within 2 standard deviations of normal presidencies?

But, I'm cheap so I'm not paying.

Actually we can discount it because the same guy also accused people of eating their cats and dogs to hurt vulnerable people and he justified Trump calling democrats the enemy of the people by saying Trump was speaking from his heart.

Sure the words are nice but coming from him? Give me a break.

The Dems have been calling republicans fascist or hitler long before even Ronald Reagan (i.e, Goldwater, Nixon, Ford, etc)... People are sick of the Dems and their old playbook. It is interesting they waited until the last two weeks play the "OMG, Trump is Hitler" card again. I guess they want some other crazy Dem to try and shoot Trump again. Talk about instigating violence!

I don't know, man... Biden looks like the fascist:

Next week the Dems will all be playing the race card.

LOL. Surely you of all people, with your prodigious twitter searching skills, could easily find a few hundred statements from Trump himself openly condoning racism.

That is a nice thought. Those words would never come out of Trump's mouth in a million years.

The Washington Post said Friday that it will not endorse a candidate in the presidential election this year, breaking decades of tradition, and sparking immediate criticism of the decision.

The newspaper also Friday published an article by two staff reporters saying that editorial page staffers had drafted an endorsement of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris over GOP nominee Donald Trump in the election.

“The decision not to publish was made by The Post’s owner — Amazon founder Jeff Bezos,” The Post reported, citing two sources briefed on the events.

                    • Good for them. News orgs should never officially endorse candidates.

I agree with you. He'd never say them. They were words that need to be spoken though.

Has anyone from the top of the Democratic ticket shared anything like that yet? I do see a lot of the younger population has become polarized and isn't able to separate someone's beliefs (political or religious) and able to maintain friendships.

Too many people only want to be around people that think like them, or speak like them. It is depressing.

Reputable news outlets have doing this favor. The sign of a good media organ is having somewhat of a wall between the editorial room and the news room or the opinion section and the news section.

No longer endorsing candidates won't help with Donnie. That isn't going to stop Trump's paranoid rantings about being picked by the media.

You first mistake was retweeting Patrick Byrne. Regardless of his politics he is not a good dude. And if you want to assess his politics we has part of team overthrow the government and his shift occurred while he was dating his high profile Russian spy paramour.

He doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. But that fits with your other retweets and no, the liberals aren't trending toward fascism as much as you want them to be.
