  • For the record, I couldn't care less if UT votes for Trump. Hell, almost all of my extended family is doing the same. I just wish he would scale back the non-stop MAGA tweet shit-posting. These political threads are mostly unreadable these days.

You mean, have finally admitted their MAGA fandom.

      good one, Ted.

No more so than pretty much every other thread on this board. But they're usually fun, interesting, often insightful, and a nice break from my otherwise lone and dreary existence.

That said, consider the dream team members mentioned in Ted's most recent regurgitation: Paul, Gabbard, RFK Jr., Vivek, Elon, Vance, and Donald Trump. Go back a few years and ask, what do these people have in common politically? The answer, I believe, was precious little, but by. pushing the right Trump buttons (i.e., sucking up, to which Trump is more susceptible than any political figure in memory), they have found a means of advancing their own personal interests, some of which may be just fine, others less so.. They're riding Trump's populist wave--there go my people and I must follow them for I am their leader...

        • At least we can admit Ron Paul was always full of shit. He was a wackadoodle who found a grift and relevancy. Libertarians who actually believe that political doctrine are more like Justin Amash.

JD Vance said even mentioned Ron Paul and said he liked some of his idea on the Joe Rogan podcast. If this moves half of the Libertarian votes over to Vance this could be a game changer.

            Who is Oliver Chase again?
Speak for yourself. This Ron Paul libertarian voted for Harris. If the GOP wanted my vote, they would have offered a better candidate.

Eli Lake makes the comparison of Trump fans being the equivalent of WWE fans. They know it's bullshit. The bullshit is what makes it fun for them. Those experiencing the vapors over Ted's work here should keep this in mind.

But so much energy being put into this back and forth on this thread seems wasted. No one is changing their mind. The die is cast. Nothing that happens over the next couple of days will change the outcome of the election. I have to think this thread is a therapeutic exercise or a compulsion to deal with something so out of your control.

Any pollster worth a damn thinks it's a race too close to call. The worst part of this all is it appears there is no consensus building to move us past this political deadlock. So we move into a second decade of this filth. The sheer incompetence of the political class to not take the upper hand in a "vibe" based political culture. They are doubling down on their worst elements. So instead of policy fights it's one side standing against the personal faults of Trump and the other side standing against the institutional faults of democratic political class. No doubt there is a major problem with Trump's authoritarian tendencies and the unconstitutional overreach and bias of the administrative state. But instead of a serious treatment of both it's just "Nazis" and the "deep state." At any rate, we'll see you all on the evening of Nov 4 or November 5 or whenever the race is called. The aftermath will be fascinating.
I've always viewed as a kind and genuine person but you're wrong here.

I'm sorry it's utter horseshit on your end to equate a progressive like myself's opinion on Trump's very real extremism to the "deep state," paranoia.

At the very least it's lazy on your part. I'll share what informs my opinion. I've been chastised before for being alarmist and been right.

Having a more restrained tone, but mean that you are more rational in this situation.

Your view that both sides are equally concerning or Harris is worse is harder and harder to justify with each passing day.
Calling Trump a racist or a fascist is not alarmist, it's accurate.

I don't think most of this board is moderate democrat but it's a weird and rare strong hold of reasonable and exiled conservatives.

I am voting for JD... With all the violent rhetoric that the Dems are spewing these days and the batsh*t crazy liberals out there Trump doesn't have a chance of serving a full term. JD will be our president sooner rather than later.

                JD Vance for President!

                  JD Vance for President!

He can't be taken seriously when he complains about rhetoric.
Some Epstein interviews were released Ted, ones where he talks about Trump. Sounds like he was in contact with him as of 2017.

If MAGA people actually cared about "the children," they'd be horrified.

Frank, stop it... You are hurting LVA's feelings.

I knew I liked you! Sorry that you wasted your vote on Harris, Bro.

Hey, if that Epstein stuff does get actually released maybe JD could invoke the 25th amendment and become president sooner than rather than later!

                      • We all know Ted's inevitable MAGA vote. But to get a sense of how real libertarians are voting:

Traditionally, this survey yields a high percentage of Libertarian Party (L.P.) voters and nonvoters, and that remains true in 2024. This year we have 12 Chase Oliver voters (many of whom have horribly mean things to say about the L.P.), six nonvoters, three Kamala Harris voters (many of whom have horribly mean things to say about Harris), one Nikki Haley write-in, one Kennedy write-in (the Fox News host, not RFK Jr.), and two undecideds (one 50/50 Trump/Oliver and one 50/50 Trump/nobody). In general, the tone of the forum is bleak and discouraged, in keeping with the mood of the American public.

No Reason magazine writers have committed to Trump. Or Vance, it goes without saying. Maybe it's because Vance is just as far away from true libertarianism as Trump is, with all the immigrant bashing and soft talk about election stealing.

I just told you there's new info out. It won't reach your silod echo chamber

No one is coming to Diddy's rescue.

Don't need that new information just yet... wait until after Tuesday.

                              And don't let me down!
