I agree both candidates are bad or worse, but we differ emphatically on who will be worse for the country long-term. I think it'd be much easier for the country to recover from bad Kamala than from bad Trump.

I tire of the moral pretense. There isn't really a moral option IMO and mostly because of that very specific reason the attacks on Trump don't work. I think Trump is going to win this thing and Democrats & NeverTrumpers are standing with a dumbfounded look saying "How can this be when we told you how bad he was?"

You are correct, I don't like Trump but I dislike Harris as well-I don't see her as a viable alternative.

We have a binary choice and if you look at the candidates and say the opposite ticket of the guy who attempted a coup, has said he wants to send the military against the enemy within, praised Nazi generals and has stated that Hitler wasn’t all bad, viable your view of politics isn’t being informed by modern day reality or historical record.

Meanwhile Trump is shitting himself, wondering around on stages, threatening american citizens with military violence, choosing a VP chosen by Big Tech, praising Nazis to his staff members, inviting Nazis to his home to eat dinner, lying about migrants in a vile and racist way and they synthesize all that and say, well both are bad as they sit on multi million dollar retirement plans and inside homes that have doubled in the last 4 years.

And the dude with General Patton as his avatar with no sense of irony proclaims, neither are viable!

Fus, by all accounts you're a great person, kind to friends, and pretty damn smart. I don't have a lot of confidence Kamala Harris will be a good president and I won't be voting for her or Trump. But it makes me feel better that so many of my betters on this board are voting for her. I sincerely mean that.

There are trade offs in choosing any candidate. Some of us have done the math and think it's a wash. Your doomsday worries are no different than the doomsday worries of the MAGA rubes. Both beleive in their own righteousness and the malevolence of their opponents. I don't buy either viewpoint. Both will be bad and will need to have their awful policies pushed back against.

It's not just as looney as MAGA. I realize your impulse will be to dismiss me as partisan, but you really have to recognize what MAGA believes and perpetuates. Trump often does the extreme general things he says he wants to like "ban Muslims." He pushes guardrails and boundaries as much as he can. He literally tried to overthrow the transition of power, and I urge you read more about the events of the day if think my emphasizing is unwarrented. Nothing is the equivalent. There is not other balancing equal set of behaviors on the part of Trump's political opponents that come close to matching his bullshit.

It's not reactive to recognize Trump's affinity for dictators. It's not a secret. To rank that concern up there with MAGA saying Michelle Obama is trans and Barack was born in Africa (Trump helped spread that one), and the assortment of incredibly stupid and paranoid Qanon believes is silly.
