Exactly right. After years and years of mind-numbing batshit crazy comments, none of his ardent supporters care. And those in the republican leadership who should care are just trying to drag a 'R' across the finish line."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

All of them make me feel very, very bad. I wouldn’t want to have any of them at a bbq. Trump would talk during the prayer. Kamala wouldn’t shut up about her potato salad recipe while eating the dish you made. JD would seem frazzled and ask if we had a quiet room where he could just sit on the couch with the lights off. Walz would say he’s bringing brisket but would actually bring chuck roast and then all his friends would freak out when you observe the discrepancy. RFK Jr would be the only cool one because he’d bring whatever dead animal he came across on the way over.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post
A lot of truth here. I've heard it described elsewhere as all of us being numbed to the crap he spews. IMO, that is why he can do "press conferences." He just blathers and lies and lies and lies. Nobody bothers to fact check because it's just too much. And we are numb to it.
That is why I believe this election will be much less about policy issues and more about how the candidates make us feel. Frankly, that has always played a big role in campaigns (Reagan, Clinton, Trump in 2016), but will be a much larger factor his time around because we are numb to things the candidates say and promise. We just want to feel good about them. Harris and America's Dad are making people feel good They seem happy and like they would be fun at a BBQ.

I’m actually a huge hypocrite for that comment. I really do hate the joke because it’s completely made up and mean. He has young kids who will spend the rest of their lives with people teasing them that their dad effs couche and it’s another example of how we dehumanize people with whom disagree, further keep good people out of politics. That said, the memes are so funny.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Damn it YO, now you've made me feel a little uneasy about the eff couch humor. He's the poster boy for politicians who deserve scorn, with little integrity to stay with his convictions for even one election cycle. But he does have family.Originally posted by YOhio View Post

Sadly, it's the world of politics in which we live now. Dems have opted to move past Michelle Obama's "they go low, we go high" mantra. I would hope that once Trump exits the scene, we can move pas this, but I'm not positive.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post

I don't like the couch joke either as it's based on a complete (and nearly libelous) fabrication. There are so many legitimate things to mock and criticize Trump (draft dodger, racist, wife-beater, pathological liar, amorality, groundless self-adoration an self-confidence, even the hair, etc.) and Vance (his many accurate rips on Trump, his absurd attempt at explaining his switch, his apparent willingness to drink sulfuric acid if it means getting elected, etc.) for that choosing a falsehood as the basis for any mockery ultimately falls flat and undermines the strength of the legitimate critiques.
BTW, the hair... Trump's hair is a great metaphor for his life and worldview. Countless hours spent constructing an appearance that hides a lot of nothingness.

I can't get behind a joke or mockery that isn't at least based in a morsel of fact. It just becomes not very funny. What i cannot believe is that Dems are not jumping on Vance's love of Diet Mountain Dew. Not even man enough for fully loaded Dew. There is a lot they are leaving on the table there.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI don't like the couch joke either as it's based on a complete (and nearly libelous) fabrication. I also think that there is tremendous potential for the Repubs to use "Karen-type" memes to mock Kamala. Needs the right execution, but i think the upside is pretty high. Be honest, if you had to put odds on whether Kamala has ever asked to speak to the manager, as for me, I am gonna have to go with a "Yes."

Or his views on "ethnics" based on a movie he saw.Originally posted by wally View Post

Is there anyone alive that can get Trump to shut up and stay on a message? I doubt it. He acts like a guy who hasn't been told no by anyone in his circle in 8 years, and I can just imagine how insanely frustrating it would be trying to stop his logorrhea. He really does believe he's the expert on every topic and I'm guessing the more he's told something that used to work isn't working, the more he's going to keep trying to play the old hits. He's been perfectly programmed to continue his own unraveling and I'm here for it.

I really think the GOP is making a big messaging mistake that should have been obvious by 2020 (if not 2018). Hillary Clinton may be the single worst presidential candidate of the modern era. Trump was hilarious and brought out the worst elements of her. They have convinced themselves that because it worked in 2016 that being assholes and stoking cultural dread is the key to winning elections moving forward. Trump may win because despite the manufactured buzz, Harris is still a bad candidate. But it's looking more likely that MAGA just isn't a viable path to electoral success.
