Politically online people are weird. It's weird to make a politician a stand in for you daddy. These people are weird.Originally posted by falafel View PostTwitter loves Tim Walz's Big Dad Energy. Buzzfeed (and lots of other sites) has a list of some pretty good ones.

You guys are bringing some Big Crab Energy to this discussion

I thinks it an organic reaction to enduring several years of a toxic politic environment dominated by mean-spirited dickheads. I imagine the honeymoon phase will end soon enough.Originally posted by YOhio View Post
Good lord these people. I like the guy but this makes me really want to hate him. Like when mbn says Mamala. Politicians aren't your parents! I think what people are responding to is the happy, upbeat nature of the Harris campaign (Kamala and Walz are always smiling) vs. the the pessimistic, shit-hole country in the toilet vibe Trump and Vance are pushing.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

Plus, he really is some of those things from the jokes!

I hear you, I do. But then Walz goes and does something like proclaim Geographic Information Systems day (it was November 15, 2023). Or changes out a headlight connector on his car and calls out Ford while doing it. Or goes to classic car shows. Or works on his 1979 International Harvester Scout.Originally posted by YOhio View Post

And then look at the VP-comparison, who, when asked if people in Wisconsin would like to have a beer with him, says, "I guess they'd want to have a beer with me because I do like beer."

It could be, but I think it's a bit more than that. I feel the same way with the Trumpers that act like he's a Messiah figure. Politics seems to be a proxy for religion, sports, and family for way too many.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

Jeesh, dude is upbeat, happy, thankful, fun, clever and appears to be a pretty good dad, and people want to crap all over it.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

lol you love Tim Walz so much. JD Vance grew up without a father he wrote a whole book about it maybe he just doesn't know how to 'have a beer' with people from Wisconsin.Originally posted by LVAllen View Post

Good on him for those things, but I'll crap all over his actual political record as a governor. Is anyone here crapping on him for... being cheerful and a good dad?Originally posted by myboynoah View PostJeesh, dude is upbeat, happy, thankful, fun, clever and appears to be a pretty good dad, and people want to crap all over it.

Yes. He'll join the prestigious club that includes Biden, Cheney, Ford, and Eisenhower.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostWhy isn't anyone talking about the big story about Walz in that it is a huge win for the most underrepresented class in presidential politics, the bald/balding community
