I'm glad someone else admitted to it. I wasn't going to go on record as being senile.

    • GOP congressman from Colorado Ken Buck is retiring-- not at the end of his term, but next week. Boy that GOP House 'majority' really is getting smaller every week. I'm reading that the specific timing of this retirement is going to end Lauren Boebert's career since she won't be able to run in the special election to replace him since she already occupies a seat.

Not senile, just not focused on the unimportant.
        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Wait - why can't she run to retain her current seat?

On the evening the Hur report came out, Biden held a press conference and went into a rage about the report. Regarding the discussion of his son's death, he said:

“There’s even some reference that I don’t remember when my son died. How the hell dare he raise that? Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself it wasn’t any of their damned business.”
The actual transcript shows that Biden was the one to bring it up, not Hur. He was trying to remember the sequence of something and he was relating it to the death of his son. One of his assistants reminded him that his son died in 2015 (not 2017 or 2018 as he was muttering about). At no point in that back and forth did Hur ask him when his son died.

She was going to run in his district after he retired bc the numbers said she is done in her own district bc a challenger has a monster war chest to run her out of congress. Now there will be a special election. She'll have to resign her seat to run in the special election, unlike the other declared challengers for Buck's seat. I hope she does that and just gets demolished.

                • So he says may 30. Other says 2015 and he says right 2015. And it was a day after the whole israel hamas thing started . But we're supposed to believe this shows a lapse in memory?

Geesh. This is worse than barr.

He's already shown himself to be awful at shepherding legislation through congress and that would only get worse without McConnell in the Senate and whatever dunce they have as Speaker if the GOP majority holds. He'll surround himself with mediocre people at the executive level because nobody of substance will want to work for him. So sure they'll 'facilitate' for him, but I'm doubtful they'll actually be effective.

I'm not saying I want Trump to win. I'm not saying a second Trump wouldn't be damaging to our country. I am saying that I don't think it's the same existential crisis you all seem to think.
We had a mini political discussion at work this morning, and this is pretty much what we agreed on. Either Trump or Biden will get elected, and there's not a lot we can do about who that is. It won't be the end of the world in either case. We still believe in the checks and balances. Our own brand of disfunction will continue to function adequately.

                      OK then.

I mostly agree with this, other than that Trump is by far the bigger threat to the continued adequate function of our brand of disfunction.

                        • lol as though it's even a comparison. Did we all just forget about 2020 and Trump trying to pump up the stock market and will his way out of covid rather than actually govern, lead, or attempt to fix anything? I don't even think it's a debate that Trump is by far-- by far-- the worst president ever to hold the office.

Not surprised Hur didn't bring it up. I kept wondering why that would be an issue in the investigation. No matter, it's still a big meh to me, but I can see why repubs would make it a focus.

One major difference being that Biden wouldn't be out deliberately trying to destroy the checks and balances and work to surround himself only with those who want to help him do that. We can debate whether Trump can succeed in his quest to do that but you can't credibly say he won't try. That's more than bad enough.

I don't see her resigning her seat to run in the special election. She'll wait for the general election, but then she'll be running against an incumbent, which makes it a lot more difficult for her. Either way, she's screwed.
