good grief, he and trump are two peas in a pod. what an embarrassment. there seems to be no limit to the things these guys will say (and i believe if they get their way, eventually carry out) to appeal to their base.Last edited by smokymountainrain; 08-18-2023, 10:00 AM.I'm like LeBron James.

Man I guess it was inevitable that we would have to repeat history to defeat the same threats our grandparents faced, now that the last of the WWII vets are passing on to the next estate...Originally posted by falafel View PostRamaswamy is a definite NO.

Trump officially announces he will skip the RNC/Fox debate and instead do an interview with Tucker Carlson. What a coward.

Former President Donald J. Trump plans to upstage the first Republican primary debate on Wednesday by sitting for an online interview with the former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, according to multiple people briefed on the matter.
In the past 24 hours, Mr. Trump has told people close to him that he has made up his mind and will skip the debate in Milwaukee, according to two of the people briefed on the matter."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? The schadenfreude of the GOP mortgaging their future with Trump and him ignoring them is just off the charts delicious.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostTrump officially announces he will skip the RNC/Fox debate and instead do an interview with Tucker Carlson. What a coward.

honestly, it's a smart (cowardly as well, to be sure) move. he has nothing to gain by participating in that debate. the real issue is that the GOP allows him to get away with it.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostTrump officially announces he will skip the RNC/Fox debate and instead do an interview with Tucker Carlson. This is the same GOP that only lets you on the debate stage if you pledge to support the eventual nominee. Which is the guy upstaging your event."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

If the GOP had any balls they would expel him. He'd be forced to run against DeSantis or someone on a 3rd party ticket. Yes, they would definitely lose the election by a landslide to the incumbent, but they are going to anyway. At least the party would be able to hit the reset button sooner than later. They absolutely have to be mulling this over right now. Or maybe they're content to lose another election and just hope Trump will die or go away on his own (or go to jail and take the decision out of their hands).
What absolute cowards.

More good takes from Ramaswamy:
https://www.politico.com/news/2023/0...g-age-00096266Ramaswamy, the millennial 37-year-old biotech entrepreneur who made a mark in the primary when he polled on par with former Vice President Mike Pence in a CBS survey last week, told POLITICO that in Iowa this week, he’ll call for increasing the automatic voting age to 25, unless a citizen 18 or older is enrolled in the military, works as a first-responder or passes the same civics test given to immigrants seeking American citizenship. Such a change could only be implemented by passing a constitutional amendment.
“There needs to be some civic experience you need to have gone through in order to actually vote,” Ramaswamy said. “That experience could be living seven years as an adult and voting at age 25. That experience could be direct service to the country or some first responder service,” or, he added, passing a civics test.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. Vivek is like Tulsi Gabbard was a few years ago. Has a few really sensible positions, but once you take a closer look you realize he is a lunatic."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I prefer another Democratic candidate to Biden, I am just not sure who that is. I know it isn't Kamala. I like that Newsome can put together coherent sentences but other than that... not so much.Originally posted by Maximus View Postwhen will Biden have a speech announcing he isnt running? time is now Joe.
And will trump win the nomination without even going to the debates?
Mayor Pete?
I actually like my governor but he doesn't seem to have any national traction (Roy Cooper).
Who am I missing?
