How politically motivated was it? I mean sure it started out as one but he was found guilty. But as to your other point, I certainly would weigh it and consider pardoning my son. But I would hope I wouldn’t do it after repeated denials.

          • I think I’ve said it before here, but I think the constitution should be amended to require Congress (Reps and Senate) to vote and approve all pardons.

It shouldn’t be as simple as one person’s whim.

              Disagree.

Not a direct family member. Either way, showing that he is no better than trump is the point you were trying to make?

Biden swore he would never do this - as a matter of principle.

I can't tell if this post is meant as a defense or indictment of Biden.

Maybe a little of both? It certainly normalizes immoral use of the pardon, which was one of my big concerns with Trump being elected.

I wonder if any county or state prosecutors should take Hunter to court to hold him accountable? Or were his crimes strictly federal in scope?

Sadly, this is where we are right now, and I don't think we are going back. Trump would have done this without batting an eyelash, saying only a dope wouldn't do it if they had the power. And MAGA would line up right behind him. This is just where we are in America.
                      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                      • I don't really care that Biden pardoned his son. They say it breaks norms or whatever, but end of term pardons are always rife with controversy and political favors. Not saying that the pardon isn't hypocritical and unfair, but most of them are. At least it wasn't the result of a financial contribution.

                          Don't be so sure.

Hunter does not deserve a pardon.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

                              • Charles Kushner served some time for his crimes. As did Clinton's brother. Hunter will have served no time and the broad pardoning for crimes committed and "may have committed" is the tell here. He has committed crimes that we don't know about yet.

The other thing tthings in the back of my mind the more I think about this is how with it is Biden right now? How much of this is Hunter or his family taking advantage of his cognitive functioning? Whatever positive reputation Biden may have had will forever be tarnished as a crony who put his family and their fortunes above all.
