On the way back home from the game I stopped at Valley View and had my best ball striking round in years. I had an 82 which doesn't sound that great but it was from the tips and the greens were newly aerified. I found the water on 2 and 7 and a bad chip on 10 lead to my three doubles but I had birdies on 4, 8, 17 and 18. I was paired with a kid that had played college golf for Bradley and he commented on what a nice birdie the one on 18 was which made me feel good because that hole usually kicks my butt. The course was in rough shape but it's still one of my favorites down there. After watching me two weeks ago I'm sure Art, DH and Clark are calling BS on this.Comment

Uh, you were far and away the best ball striker in our group 2 weeks ago, even if your final score didn't reflect it. Golf is a lot more fun when you are not passing out from heat exhaustion, exhaustion from getting up at the crack of dawn, and no one on the Golf course so you play in great rhythm. Only problem 35 mph winds yesterday. (Why no one was on the course) Still shot a 94. 47/47 Angel Park Palms.( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Last week had two great days. Friday 87 at Spanish and Saturday 91 at Homestead. I ended the season playing as well as I ever have. Sad to see it getting cold.
The 99 I shot at South Mountain, I was playing about the same. But playing from the blacks in 60 mph cross wind, a 99 is about as good as I can do on that course. Whose idea was that anyway?Comment

What are typical joining fees for private courses/ Country Clubs in Utah, or other parts of the country? I know before the housing bubble burst, people were paying (what I considered) extravagant amounts, but I assuming they are less now, due to a lower demand.Comment

Ah. That makes sense. I have a friend whose uncle is big land developer in Utah and can get on almost any course he wants. When he was there this summer, his uncle made up a story that my friend was looking to buy a home in RL, then they were able to play for free (I'm assuming the house hunting scam, probably wouldn't fly for the average Joe). I played Wasatch yesterday. We played 9 holes on the MTN course and 9 on the lake. With the early snow it is set up a bit different. You play holes 1-4, and 14-18 on the mtn. Then the front 9 at the lake.
The MTN 9 I was striking the ball great and played solid considering the temp when we teed off was 28 degrees. With a double on the par 3 2nd I still shot a 39.
Lake course was a different story, I felt like BYU71 with how many shots I shanked. It was a complete cluster I still managed to grind out a 45 as I drained a lot of putts. The clubs are officially going in the garage until spring after that round.*Banned*Comment
