We are in the upper right hand corner. Riverlakes.

We are 3-1 in competition. There are a total of 48 points available at the event. A maximum of 6 is available in each grouping. First Team to 25 points wins.

It is matchplay versus your opponent and then a team best ball going at the same time. 2 points for winning your match, and 2 points to the team for the best ball.

In our 3 wins we have gone 18-0 in points. In our 1 loss we are 0-6 on points.

One of the more enjoyable things that I have done.

Also...we are playing a qualifier next Friday for the SCGA Net Championship. They are having multiple qualifiers in March. 990 total slots available. They take the top 180 (60 in each flight. We are both in the C flight I believe), so I am pretty hopeful that it goes well.

        Loving me some competition.
Well another week has come and gone...and we are now 4-1 as a team. Our team Riverlakes advances and we play again this weekend. We are now in the Sweet 16.

I beat my guy 8 and 7. DT lost his match 5 and 4.

We had to play the 2 man best ball until the 18th hole. DT sunk a 10 foot putt on 17 to keep us with our 1 hole lead and making sure we got at least 3 points as a team.

On 18, which is a par 5 to an island green, I stuck a PW from 120 to within 4 feet on my 3rd shot. At that point the other team conceeded the match and we ended up winning 4 points. Our team won 38-10.

        This is a blast.

We play in our SCGA Net Championship qualifier tomorrow, on a course we have never played before.

        Should be fun!

Sky mountain was a piece of shit last time I went. You would be hard pressed to talk me into playing it for free.

We played Sun Brook today, and it was in rough shape. The colder than normal winter took its toll on a lot of courses down here, I guess. The palm trees all look dead, although the pro said they come back.

We play Sky Mountain tomorrow, and did get in on the KSL deal. Our expectations won't be high, but after the winter we have had in northern Utah this year, any golf at 80 degrees will be heaven.

                    • I played The Ranches on Saturday morning. First time out all year I was fairly pleased. I shot 45-45 for a nice even 90. Normally I would not be happy with a 90, but it was my first time out in 5 months and we were playing in about 40mph winds.

For those that have played the ranches, hole 9 which is straight up hill, was directly in to the wind. I hit my driver on a relatively short par 4 (about 360 yards) I was still about 150 out as the wind just swallowed my ball. 2nd shot I was 155 in to the wind and straight up the hill. I actually pulled out my hybrid and hit it really pure. I stuck it about 10 feet from the pin. The guys with me were trying to hit 7s and 8s in to the green not factoring the wind or the elevated green. All 3 of them came up way short and even mocked me at first when I pulled out my hybrd. It was at least a 3 club wind for most of the day. On hole 17 I was 122 out in to the wind and actually hit a 7 iron pin high.

On the flip side hole 1 we had a strong wind at our back it is a reachable par 5 about 490 yards. I hit sand wedge in to that green and had a 12 foot eagle putt. Of course I ended up 3 putting for a par.

I am heading to St. George this weekend hopefully I can get in a round or two.

I know that Sand Hollow just hosted the Nike Winter Classic and that the course was said to be in world class shape. I have never played there and am looking forward to it.

Last year when I played sky mountain there was so much duck shit that you needed waders and a bright orange ball to identify it in the fairway.

                            • Sand Hollow is beautiful. A pretty fun track and it is meticulously maintained. However, I think the red sand bunkers are a joke. It's a nice enough course that they should bring in some real bunker sand (and maybe they did for the Winter Classic). Anyway, if it's the red stuff and you're in the bunker, good luck. It's a lot heavier than normal sand, so you have to swing a lot harder to get the ball out.

Personally, I like the layout of Coral Canyon a bit better, but they are both fantastic courses. Either one of them would be $250 to play in California.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
