  • I shot an 86 today! It was the first time I have broken 90 since Dec., and my best round since Aug. 2010 when I tied my lowest round ever of 83. My new index came out today and is now up to 21.1. The highest it has been for some time, so it was nice to have a good round. I feel like it is all starting to come together. I have progressively gotten better during my last 5 rounds (94, 93, 93, 91, 86). My last round I shot a 50 on the front 9 and a 41 on the back. Today was 46/40. 40 is my best 9 ever as I have never gotten into the 30's.

My putting was horrendous. I had seven 3 putts. I am still working out the kinks with my new putter, but today was really bad. I missed 2-3 putts from less than 3 feet and there is no excuse for that other than lack of focus. The highlight of the day was a hole out for birdie from 50 yards out on number 15.

I am getting much better around the greens and if I can keep my GIRs up, I am hoping to have many more scores like this in the future.

When the revision came out this morning I was also a 21.1, weird, whacky stuff. However that's the lowest I've been in over a year when I peaked at 20.8.

      • 44-50=94 today at Awbrey Glen in Bend, with my FiL today. It was very disturbing as I went double, double, quad to finish.

The best round I have ever shot anywhere is 92, that should have been a given heading into the last three holes or even the last hole. I'm trying to stay positive that I was sub 95 which is a really nice round for me, but that was a frustrating last three holes.

          Nice round, dude.

Remember when we played Badlands last fall? I don't remember what I shot, but I played really poorly. I haven't played it since then, until last Saturday. I was excited to get some revenge on that course. Instead, I posted my highest score in recent memory: 59+61=120.

I should just give up after a score like that. But instead, I was back at the range today, handing over more money like the sucker I am.

Hey good for you. I can see an all time low coming up. That's one of the things I like about golf... it's about enduring to the end. Your tired at the end, you lose a little focus and boom... your score jumps up and bites you in the butt.

Too bad I'll never see an all time low again. But, I'm going back to the scene of the crime - Hobble Creek - playing there Friday morning with my two sons.

Yeah - we're making the drive from Portland to Provo this week. 13 hours of being in the same small space as my wife and 3 daughters is actually not as fun as it sounds. When I'm with them, the wide mouth gatorade goes unused. Dang, it's going to be a long trip.

The Bride to Be took over the "Grooms Dinner" and I don't even know where's it's going to be. My wife told me to shut my mouth and open the wallet a little. At least I'm getting a new suit out of the deal.

            • Two wins in a row at Men's League, shot a 48 with an awful triple. I'm feeling really good about how I'm playing right now.

Atta boy. I have had three good nights sleep in a row. If I get one tonight, well I think I will be reporting tomorrow I shot in the 70's.

                • I watch a lot of golf videos on youtube. There are some pretty good instructors making videos, and a whole lot of useless crap.

I discovered this guy yesterday, who happens to be the head pro at the course down the street from my house. His explanation of the coil in the back swing is the first one I think I've actually understood.

Thanks. Is there enough in the "free" section for me to use, or do they only give you a taste to pique your interest?

Last year, I paid for 1 month and downloaded all the videos that seemed pertinent to what i wanted to work on. It seemed to help a lot. Considering the way I've been playing, I need to look at them again.

Arghhhh. 46 on the front 40 on the back. Today I try once again. My partners were very good, especially my son who threw down a 73. I really helped them on the back. So we got all our money back and a little bit more against the debacle last Saturday.

Easiest is Logan Country Club. The best is the one in Smithfield. Logan river is a dump--tons of flooding issues. Don't even bother with it.
