  • 436? Not bad, Rory, not bad.

I think I posted about it in this thread, but I once hit a 417 yard drive on a par 5 in Cedar City. It wasn't really 417 because I cut the corner, and it was downhill with the wind at my back, but i'm counting it.

I am glad you posted something here. I can't believe I have forgotten to announce I shot a 78 yesterday. Caveat is number 10 is still a 277 downhill par 4 and a temporary green. I birdied it yesterday. I am driving the ball pretty straight and so my last four rounds on that hole I have gone Eagle, birdie, bogey, birdie.

The said thing about the round though is I finished double bogey, bogey and 3 putt bogey.

If you ever find that you want to post something in a thread, but the thread isn't appearing on the "new posts" page, send me a PM. I'll search for the thread and bump it so you can post. Consider it my service to the elderly. (Nice job on the 78, btw. Unfortunately, my game seems to be a bit of a mess right now. I peaked in Jan/Feb with consecutive sub- 80 rounds, and now I seem to be stuck in the high 80s.)

Thanks, I appreciate your thoughtfulness. You will get it back. I got to a 16 handicap earlier this year and got thinking I just have to accept I am going to shoot old man scores with an occasional good round. However, my handicap is back down to a 12 and the last three score I shot, 83, 81 and 78 won't show up until the July 15th handicap.

How one gets it and loses it and gets it and on and on happens to even the pro's.

          • I am back down to a 15.1 and trending downward. Been playing decent (high 80's) with an occasional round into the low 90's. The good news is Tick is just about down to a 10 index and I am still getting shots from him, although it didn't help me any yesterday.

We changed work schedules and now work 6am-330pm. This means we can get out for golf middle of the week after work. Right now we are playing Weds afternoon or Thursday skins, and we generally play every other Friday (we are off every other Friday), every Saturday, most Sundays before church. Life is good.

                • Nice work DT. I am trying and trying to break through the wall and be an 80s golfer, unfortunately the wall is not relenting. 46-46 today, 46-45 on Monday.

Don't worry - sounds like she's bringing her unique perspective and firm style to Fox golf and football broadcasts.

Ouch. Her teaching lessons have really helped my game. I hope they replace her with someone as capable.

                        • Went out late yesterday for a quick nine with my son and shot a 33, 4 birdies, 4 pars and a bogey. Hit seven greens, got up and down one of the two times I missed the green and made a mile of putts. I've been playing like crap this year and this came out of nowhere so I'm happy today.

Excellent. The few times I have shot under par for 9 holes it took a while to wipe the big smile off of my face.

I have been under par for 18 only 3 or 4 times in my life. One of those was a 69 which brings a big grin everytime I think about it.

Note: Pre-empting the smart asses on here. The 69 wasn't at Lagoon and it was a par 72 legitimate 6500 yard course.

Wow... that's great. That could have been a round in the 60's if you made the turn.

I doubt I could have held it together but I wish we would have had time to try.
