And sitting on a splitting wedge can become a bit painful after five hours.

It looks too wide for my tastes.

My wife has over 15,000 miles on her saddle and wants to swap it out for something new and perhaps better suited to, uh, feminine needs. Would an Adamo be a good choice?

Supposedly it's unisex, but my wife didn't like it when she tried it out. Note that I only use it on my tri bike - it's pretty cool in the aero position, not as cool sitting straight up, although I expect that is a fit issue.

            • The cold/flu I had at the end of December really took alot out of me - I didn't do anything for about 2 weeks and when I go out now it seems like I walk into a wall at about 3 miles. I still haven't attempted jogging.

I went 4 miles yesterday - my longest walk since mid December

I may be small, but I'm slow.

                  • last week was my first 40 mile week since Mid December. Still not quite back speed wise (is the word speed allowed with walking?) averaging about 14:15 per mile. I want to be at 13:30

                    • I'm going to run 10 miles for the first time this Saturday. I'm pretty stoked, even if it is going to take me forever to do it.

That is very cool. Good for you. Don't let these guys tell you differently. That is a long ways. To me anything over 6 miles is a long run.

Agreed. 10 is where it starts. The guys here told me to try a marathon after I'd done 10. And you know how that turned out. Congrats and kudos to you.

You should be. I still remember the day I first did it. Good for you; it's a nice (ten) milestone.

                            • So I went to see my podiatrist yesterday for help with an achy Achilles. This guy is awesome because he's also a triathlete and gets the mentality of pushing through pain vs. trying to prevent horrible injury. He's also a big time minimalist/barefoot proponent for at least cross training.

Yesterday he mentioned the Hoka One One and asked if I'd ever tried it. I'd never considered it, but he said despite its rep as a maximalist shoe it is actually pretty good and incorporates a lot of minimalist features (like heel drop).

Today I tried a pair on and ran a bit with them at my local running store. Wow. Phenomenal. I will definitely be getting a pair for high mileage applications. Probably will still do full out marathons in Kinvaras but Ironmans and training runs and such....

                              • Yep. I think people are sometimes quick to dismiss Hokas because they look so big, but a lot of people are reducing pain and increasing training capacity by going with them.
