BS. Maybe not make up but you can extrapolate and sensationalize beyond the bounds of respectable journalism to make money.

Are you implying that "Triggers" is not that big a problem at some universities? Or is it so sporadic that it is being sensationalized?

The American Association of University Professors thought enough to write a warning about it last year and then there is the Columbia case.

"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

I fail to see how that really matters when discussing the issue of the church's credibility and the way it has sought to control its narrative and image. Sure, people's reactions to seeing the man behind the curtain will vary, and even be influenced by this "phenomenon" but that doesn't change the fact that there's still a man behind the curtain, despite what the Great Oz says.

My friend, I counter that the extrapolation isn't all that extrapolated. It's like the whole world now gets to see what it's like to teach Humanities at BYU.

Of course there is. It's Jesus, dude. Jesus's behind that curtain.
              Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Agree, I was taught Jesus was behind a door not a curtain.

This just proves my point. The problem is being dealt with. As always, universities are places where these types of problems are openly discussed and ventilated. Look at the cover of that Atlantic article--we're ruining our kids! Meanwhile, this kind of thing is red meat for right wing Jesus freaks who jump on any excuse to vilify universities. The Atlantic is like Donald Trump in that it knows how to play to the lowest common denominator.

A speaker is disinvited from giving a lecture at Williams College because her views on feminism might be offensive to some students. And get this: the event is part of the "Uncomfortable Learning" lecture series, which was created for the precise purpose of exposing the students to different viewpoints. Bloody hell...
I have no problem with Williams cancelling Susan Venker, and not because she may upset people whose feelings are too tender. I'd never heard of her but a little research reveals that she's a crackpot and maybe a bad person. Bravo Williams!

lol. The writer of the NY Times article--which was issued seven months ago and was timely and not as sensationally spun as from the trashy Atlantic article, is married to Nicholas Lemann.

                            • JL, focus on really egregious, less ephemeral stuff done that a university does. You won't have to go far!
