I have 9 siblings. 42 nieces and nephews. A few grand nieces and grand nephews. In the past 25 years we have gone from everyone writing a letter to my mom, who would then dutifully copy each letter 9 times and send a copy to each of the siblings snail mail--to everyone sending my mom an e-mail that she would dutifully forward to each sibling and grandchild--to Facebook. It doesn't require my mom to do anything, and everyone can share and read not just letters, but send pictures from weddings, baptisms, new births etc. Granted, I have a few relatives who have been hidden from my feed, but if I ever want to see what they have been up to, I can. I also get regular updates from cousins and further extended family that I would not have otherwise known about. Since the teenagers abandoned it in favor of twitter, instagram, snapchat, etc. a few years back it's been way less information noisy.

As an example, my brother has been in and out of the hospital with unknown internal bleeding. Pretty much everyone who would be interested in a status update can gets it by my brother simply posting a single time to a single place and it's done.

I was wrong, smokymountainrain cannot interpret. I guess it will just remain a mystery what I meant.

It tells me I have 8 friends in common with Niku, but when I click on "Mutual Friends" only 7 show up. Does this mean someone on my friends list has me on forced ignore or something? And can someone tell me who it is?

All of the 7 are CS people, as would be expected. I guess to make the cut you need to be somewhat apostate, or a really good triathlete-type, or a lawyer, or a really nice guy. I think that is the basic pattern.
I really am sorry. I couldn't figure out who you were, but put two and two together when I learned what a "touchbase" was.

Ex'ed. Mine says we still have 12 friends in common. He must have stopped ex'ing people before he finished working his way through his whole list, because I can't think of 12 people on here who he would rather have as friends than me.

                • Looks like the CES guy videotaped the whole disciplinary council.

Seems a bit unethical to video tape it without their consent...but kind of disappointing that none of the people on the court had even read the CES letter. How can you even judge a person if the biggest piece of evidence isn't even used by the jury

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. In my line of work, I often get recordings where only one party is aware it is being recorded.

The recordings are extremely unfair as the recording party knows to be on his or her best behavior and often tries to provoke the other person.

When the person recording comes off looking the worst, you know you are dealing with a huge asshole.

Both me and my wife have private family groups with our respective sides. We post videos and pictures and can easily see what is going on with each other (the families).

Kind of like this board, except with people you know in real life like your friends and family. For those of us with big families with moderately fb active members it's an extremely convenient way to stay in the loop. It's also bizarrely interesting/voyeuristic to see how people are whom you haven't talked to for years.

The last bit was childish and recording without permission or knowledge is improper, but it is weird how it was conducted.
