I was really shaken up that 94 yr old Elder Boyd K. Packer was doing the "bob and travel" with his head during a briefing on cybersecurity!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Well...here's the thing. Rarely does any ONE THING have a perceptible effect on Mormon conviction (what they call testimony). But you never know what will be the straw to break the camel's back, or what will be the first think that makes a Mormon go "hmmm..." and thus gets them poking around on the internet for more things that make them go "hmmmm..." This could easily be either of those things.

All religions are losing people right now. The LDS church is no different and isn't any more successful, it would seem, at stopping the bleeding than anyone else. People are starting to realize that these organizations aren't run by God and that God probably doesn't even really exist. Instead, like many here on CS, people are starting to ask themselves what value their churches provide despite those facts. If they find enough value otherwise they seem to have a chance at staying, if not, they take up water skiing.

Do you suspect something more impressive happens in temple meetings?

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
